Brain-Building Activity #6: Make a Big Splash!

Raining out there? Get outside and jump around! Throw on your gear—slickers, rain boots, etc.—and head out to find the perfect puddle with your little one. When you do, get ready to jump in! Hold hands and take turns counting “One, two, three…jump!” You can make things a bit more educational by talking about how high you’ll jump or how far you can go—or you can just have a great time splashing.

How is this building your child’s brain? The secret is in that little pause—one, two, three…. That moment of waiting lets your excited tyke practice patience with positivity. Puddle jumping helps him develop self-control, which is a skill he’ll use his whole life.

Meet the Bezos Family Foundation.

The Bezos Family Foundation believes that all children are born with a deep desire and potential to learn—and that education is the best investment we can make today to ensure a better tomorrow (and at KinderCare, we couldn’t agree more). The Vroom program was created to inspire families to turn everyday moments into opportunities for children to learn and grow. Developed with input from neuroscientists, early childhood experts, and parents, Vroom shares the science of early brain development with families because all parents have the potential to create a bright future for their kids.
