Sweeten the Pot: Sugar Scrub That’s Super Easy to Make

final product sugar scrub red green bow

We can’t stop oohing and ahhing over this unbelievably easy sugar scrub recipe from Mama.Papa.Bubba. All the ingredients are easily found at the grocery store, but the result looks, smells, and feels like something you’d shell out big bucks for at a fancy spa. Get your kiddos in on the measuring and mixing—and you’ve got a sweet, homemade gift for aunts or grandmas!

Feel free to experiment with other flavors and aromas by replacing the vanilla with peppermint extract (tie a candy cane to the jar!) or lemon extract. The orange zest can also be traded for other citrus, like grapefruit, lemon, or lime.

ingredients for sugar scrub

Sugar Scrub

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • ¼ cup coconut oil, either in its liquid form (place the sealed jar in a bowl of warm water) or softened so that it will liquefy as you mix.
  • ¼ cup almond oil
  • Zest of 2 large oranges or 4 small ones
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Recipe yields: 2 small jars of sugar scrub. (Maybe gift one, keep the other? Happy holidays, Mama!)

Directions:

To make the scrub, pour all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. You may need to mash the coconut oil a little as you mix if it was still a little solid when you added it. Divide the scrub into two small jars, add pretty ribbons and tags, and voilà! You have a sweet-smelling, spa-worthy gift made with love.
