Nationally Recognized Health and Safety Standards
Third-party experts evaluated our health and safety standards, and we passed with flying colors!
Point of pride: KinderCare is the largest education provider and the only national provider of early childhood education and care to earn the WELL Health-Safety Rating™ for Facility Operations and Management™.
“The WELL Health-Safety Rating is truly a reflection of the work we do every day in classrooms across the country to create safe and healthy spaces for children in our care. We hold ourselves to incredibly high standards and are always seeking to improve the quality of our programs, particularly in terms of health and safety. We’re honored to be the only major provider recognized with this distinction.”

Secure Classrooms and Buildings
KinderCare centers use secure building procedures and authorized drop-off and pick-up policies to help protect your child throughout the day.
- Secure building access: Our doors are locked during operating hours. Families enter using individual access codes for added protection. Only authorized staff and enrolled families can enter, and only pre‑approved adults with photo identification may pick up your child.
- Kid-safe classrooms: We update our classrooms with age-appropriate furniture, toys, and learning tools.
- Safe outdoor play spaces: Carefully maintained outdoor playgrounds give children room to move, play, and get their wiggles out safely.
Teachers Trained for Safety and Care
Your child's teachers and center staff might start to feel like extended family. That’s because we focus on relationship-centered care. Our teachers are talented and trustworthy.
- Staff are trained in child development, early childhood education, or a related field.
- All teachers are certified in pediatric CPR and first aid.
- KinderCare is the only early childhood education provider to partner with Gallup® to help find caregivers who fit our culture, purpose, and values.
- Every staff member completes a criminal background check as one important step in hiring the best caregivers for your child.
Clean Classrooms and Healthy Spaces
Every KinderCare classroom is cleaned and sanitized throughout the day to help support healthy learning environments.
- Hospital-grade cleaning products are powerful on big germs but gentle on kids.
- High-touch surfaces, toys, and playground equipment are sanitized daily.
- Hand-washing is part of the daily routine, helping children build healthy habits they can use at school and home.
- Cleaning products are always stored safely out of children’s reach.
Safe Daily Routines for Children
Daily routines help children know what comes next and feel ready for the day. Safety practices at KinderCare support daily routines with safe sleep procedures, food safety standards, age-appropriate playground supervision, and more.

Prepared for Emergencies
While emergencies are unlikely, KinderCare centers prepare staff and procedures so families can feel confident their centers are ready to respond safely when needed.
Every staff member follows their center’s Emergency Response Plan, and we conduct monthly evacuation drills (fire, flood, gas leak, etc.) as well as shelter‑in‑place drills (tornado, hurricane, active threat, etc.) to make sure both teachers and children know exactly what to do. For details about your center’s emergency plan, talk to your center director.
Safety is a partnership with Families
When children see the grown-ups around them practicing healthy habits, communicating clearly, and working as a team, they learn those habits too. It’s a simple partnership that helps them feel connected, capable, and cared for.
