It can be incredibly nerve-wracking to raise a child without a manual...we scan the literature, read the books, attend birth classes and play groups, but every day greets us with the uncertainty of "Am I making the best choices for my child?"
Let us at Lincoln Park KinderCare help! Our staff has the National Association for the Education of Young Children seal of approval on their education, training, and ability to care for Little Ones (and their parents!). Questions and repartee about your outside of school endeavors are a part of our daily life. We love it. Let us take a load off your mind, find a kindred heart, share some tips and tricks, and join your "village".
Child-rearing is a messy job. Let's do it with finger-paints.

-Jenn Wisegarver, Center Director

Our Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks - 1 year)

Babies grow and learn every day. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing "home away from home" where babies can explore and make new discoveries. We know that learning through play is extremely valuable at this age and our Early Foundations® Infant program is designed to give babies the skills that will serve as the building blocks for a lifetime of learning.

Toddler Programs (1 – 2 Years)

As toddlers develop friendships, self-esteem, and curiosity, our Early Foundations® Toddler program will help them explore their world in a safe and nurturing environment. Our unique curriculum is based on the philosophy that children learn best through experiences. So each day is filled with fun activities that excite and develop toddlers, giving them the comfort and confidence to speak those first few important words, as well as make their first friends.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2 – 3 Years)

At this age, children are making new discoveries daily. And as two-year olds begin to exert their independence, our Early Foundations® Discovery Preschool program is prepared to open their eyes to a world of learning, sharing, and exploring. Our holistic approach in the classroom engages young minds with a blend of music, art, and movement, as well as the early education fundamentals they'll need as they continue on to preschool.

Preschool Programs (3 – 4 Years)

As preschoolers gain more self-esteem, they may feel ready to take on the world. Our Early Foundations® Preschool program enhances that confidence by providing activities to help children become problem solvers and lifelong learners. Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, children will work on early literacy, math, science, and social studies concepts. A healthy dose of running, jumping, and dancing keeps them active too.

Prekindergarten Programs (4 – 5 Years)

Prekindergartners are preparing for the adventure of a lifetime – school. And our Early Foundations Prekindergarten® program is designed to get them ready by teaching letters and words, math concepts, and valuable social skills. With small group instruction, independent play in an organized atmosphere, and whole-group activities, children will have all the right skills to hop, skip, and jump right into kindergarten.

Learning Adventures - Enrichment Program

The Cooking Adventures program gives children opportunities to participate in fun, developmentally appropriate cooking experiences. They will learn about recipes, ingredients, cooking vocabulary, and the importance of a healthy diet. The curriculum includes lessons on picnics, pizza, and heart-healthy meals.

The Math Adventures enrichment program is designed to teach important mathematics concepts such as geometry, numbers, measurement, and probability. Your child will learn about length, height, and weight. He will learn about shapes and solids. He will learn how to add, subtract, multiply, and count money. Math is everywhere and giving your child every advantage now will add up to success later in life.

Ongoing research proves that early exposure to music helps children think, reason, create, and express themselves. Children will laugh and learn about rhythm, vocal melodies, and a variety of musical genres and instruments, which can lower stress and advance memory. Learning never sounded so good.

Phonics & Reading Adventures

Set your child up for advanced success with literacy through phonics, the study of letters and sounds. Reader books, games, and activity cards help your child understand the basics of vowels and blending syllables, giving him confidence and command of language.

Spanish Adventures provides young learners with a foundation for later success with the Spanish language. Music, games, children's Spanish literature, and other tools give children multiple opportunities to hear, practice, and see Spanish language for vocabulary and conversational development. Curriculum includes lessons on greetings, numbers, colors, animals, family, body parts and pets as well as how to get engage conversationally during common scenarios at home, a restaurant, or at the zoo. 1. January's Learning Focus

Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: Light and Dark, plus the Sky and Weather

Through shadow play, experiments with flashlights, observing the Sun and more, infants and toddlers will enjoy learning about light and dark this month. Infants continue sensory development by looking at contrasting patterns and at objects that are clearly defined by sharp edges and bright colors, while toddlers will build on their understanding of the light and dark concepts with play around daytime and nighttime. The older Discovery Preschool children will turn their attention to the sky as they learn about weather, the Moon, the Sun, and stars.

Children 4–5 years old: Transportation, Healthy Bodies, and Winter

For children in the Preschool and Kindergarten classrooms, January is filled with variety! They’ll begin by learning about transportation and studying how things get from “here” to “there.” A few weeks later, the focus will shift to health and bodies, with an emphasis placed on how to make good choices for a growing body. Towards the end of the month, children will be introduced to the transformative nature of the winter season and learn how to dress and take care of themselves when it’s cold outside.

You're off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, So...get on your way!" -Dr. Seuss

Jenn is so excited to have rejoined the Lincoln Park KinderCare family! Born a suburbanite, she happily moved to the city in 2009 to fill the role of Discovery PreSchool and Music Learning Adventure Teacher. Under the mentorship of Ms. Sarah Young, Jenn grew to manage her own PreSchool classroom. By 2013, Jenn took on responsibilities as Program Specialist and was soon promoted to Assistant Director of Evanston KinderCare. After a wonderful year there, Jenn has come “home” to Lincoln Park as the Center Director, and she couldn't be happier!

Currently, Jenn is working on her own case study at home: parenting! Born in April of 2015, Jetson accompanies Jenn to school each day and loves to say “hi” when tours come through his classroom! The Wisegarver family takes joy in sitting down to a family meal together. Jenn's favorite pastimes are throwing and attending tea parties, supporting Chicago theater, going for brunch, candlelight yoga, and jogging to dance-pop/musical theater tunes.

  • Winonah LaGrande

    Winonah LaGrande, Assistant Director

I learned very early in life that I loved working with and being around children. I grew up near Kalamazoo, Michigan where I spent my time babysitting, camp counseling and volunteering in elementary classrooms all through high school. I decided to move to "the big city" to further my career and education. I started with Lincoln Park KinderCare in 2008 as a teacher and spent time in the Toddler, Waddler, Preschool, and Pre-K classrooms. I also attended and graduated Rasmussen College with my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education. As I grew in my education and career, I accepted a promotion as an Assistant Director in Des Plaines in 2014, but was delighted when a position opened up at my old stomping ground in Lincoln Park! One of my favorite things about KinderCare is how well it takes care of its employees. I wouldn't be here if not for the flexibility and support the company has given me in terms of schooling. I am equally committed to the educational goals of my employees and urge all of them to keep growing!

My husband is also an Early Childhood Educator (we met here as teachers!). We got married last year and look forward to growing our family... just not yet! Along with a passion for education, we share a three-legged cat named Eileen and an apartment we'll probably outgrow soon. When we're not at work I'd like to say we're out running, but we're really probably at a restaurant or a movie!

I look forward to partnering with your family to provide the best care for your children!

    1. December's Learning Focus

Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: Family, Friends, and Things that Go!

Infants and toddlers will be exploring family and friends, while three-year-olds will focus on things that go vroom! Social and emotional development is foundational to growth and development in babies, so this month, infants and toddlers will participate in activities that reinforce their connection to family while also exploring connections that exist outside their home, such as friends. Meanwhile, their older friends in Discovery Preschool will learn about and play around with things that move (like bicycles, cars, buses, trains, and airplanes), which are all very exciting for little ones as they continue to explore the world outside their homes.

Children 4–5 years old: My Country + Tools and Machines

The four- and five-year-olds continue exploring the world around them by learning about the state and country they live in! They’ll sings songs, play games based on travel, and learn about flags, state foods, and more. Children will also be introduced to cardinal directions (east, west, north, and south) and gain an appreciation for travel and meeting new friends from different places.

Children are naturally fascinated with machines and how things work and are put together. So to encourage that fascination, during the second half of this month children will learn about and play around with tools and machines. In addition to building literacy skills by using the names of machines and tools, children will develop math skills by graphing information, counting wheels, and more.

Health and Safety

Our center has a security coded entry door with managers monitoring who is coming in and out of the building. We have a private playground surrounded by a six foot safety fence. All teachers and staff are CPR and First Aid certified.  We are on the Consumer Products Safety Commission's mailing list and e-mail alerts to parents as we receive them. We conduct name to face counts every 30 minutes and emergency evacuations on a monthly basis.  Our nurse consultant also visits us monthly, keeping us informed of seasonal illnesses and enforcing proper diapering and handwashing techniques. Our Health and Safety Coordinator completes classroom checks weekly to be sure that your little ones are in the safest environment possible!

At KinderCare, what families say about us means a lot. Read below some of the great experiences our families have had with us.

Share Your Story
If you have a story about your experience at KinderCare, please share your story with us.

We are so thrilled with our Kindercare experience. Not only have we watched our son blossom into a rambunctious toddler from a squeaky little newborn, but we have seen all of the love his teachers and the Kindercare staff show him through his kisses being blown and waves goodbye every night. We have never seen a moment of separation anxiety from him, and we credit that to the level of trust and comfort he feels at Kindercare. We feel so fortunate to know our son is in such great hands every day. Thank you so much! Sincerely, Nicole and Mike C.

- Parents

As our oldest moves into an elementary school schedule, we see how spoiled we have been by KinderCare…the long hours they are open, the flexibility to pick up and drop off when we want, the fact that they are only closed a few days a year – the convenience is incredible. And, we’ve always felt totally comfortable and happy about the care and development our children have received at KinderCare.

- Mother

Lincoln Park KinderCare is a friendly place, and the staff is so very wonderful!! We have returned there for our second child. Our children are four years apart, and the same teachers that took care of our older child are still there taking care of our second child. You feel that you are leaving your child in caring and safe hands. We feel that it is our second home!!

- Mother

We brought our child to KinderCare at about 9 months of age. She had previously been cared for by a full-time nanny, who came to the house during working hours. Over time we became fearful that our baby was missing out on important social interactions with other children her age, so we began to look around for daycare centers. Most of what we found did not inspire confidence. There are loads of daycare centers out there, but mostly we found that were either too far away for our liking, or in sketchy areas, or run by too few people, or by people we had a hard time communicating with. Whatever the reason, we just never felt confident to leave our baby with any of the care facilities we looked into. And then we found KinderCare. What we liked about KinderCare from the beginning was that it didn't feel like some ma-and-pop outfit. KinderCare felt like a proper child care facility: menus are planned out weeks in advance, you get a record of what your child eats and does every day, the doors lock and open only with a code, it has a proper fire alarm system, there's parking out front, there is a reception desk in the entry way, the care givers are caring for normal-sized groups of kids almost exactly the same age, they have specific responsibilities inside those groups, there is a curriculum of activities, developmental habits are tracked and recorded, etc. etc. This wasn't a store front or the third apartment in a three flat that some person decided to run as a daycare center. Someone actually thought about how to build and run KinderCare. That was the biggest takeaway for us. The place feels partly like a school, partly like a cafeteria, and partly like a business. It is well managed and has operating procedures. And for whatever reason, those things made us feel confident that we could take our precious gift there every day - and nothing would go wrong. We were thrilled when our child was confirmed for a spot in the center. And we've never regretted the decision to take her there. We know she's safe. We know she's watched after. And we know that she's on track. This all gives us great peace of mind.

Lincoln Park KinderCare has been the perfect match and a true blessing for our family. The friendly and knowledgeable staff and fun environment have become part of our family and we are not just satisfied but are also proud to have our daughter be a part of this community. Our daughter has grown so much thanks to the expertise and genuine care of the staff and we look forward to the years ahead.

The first time that Ben got sick in infant care he was running a very high temperature. I got to school to find his teacher holding him - she said he was so sad and that he just wanted to cuddle..Made me feel so good to know he was in such loving hands! The first day that Ben transitioned from waddlers to toddlers, he was having a rough day and wasn't eating his lunch. His old waddler teacher got the word and stopped into the room and let him sit on her lap for lunch time..That is just what he needed to clean his plate. Recently, one night when I was putting Ben to sleep he goes "Mommy, Ms. Winnonah and Ms. Heather know just what to do at school. It is fun there." Just about sums it up! :)

Lincoln Park KinderCare has been a wonderful place for our family. At our first visit, to tour the facility, the staff made us feel comfortable and welcome. The first day we dropped our infant daughter off, it was sad and hard to leave her, but my husband and I felt extremely reassured that she was in good hands, and that was very calming to both of us. Our daughter has grown so much under the careful care of all the teachers and staff. From infancy into her two’s, they have always treated her as if she is the only child they tend to on a daily basis, and have given us some excellent insight into her growth. I would recommend this facility to everyone, as we have been very happy here. Choosing the right day care is the most important decision any new parents can make. Thank you for making ours both comforting and enjoyable.

KinderCare has made a profound impact in our child's life. We are continually impressed by the caring teachers as well as the unmatched teaching curriculum. As a consequence of the highly skilled staff, our 4 year old is able to read and do multiplication. We truly appreciate the program and highly recommend it.

We have been so pleased with our son's experience at Lincoln Park Kindercare. He has been going to "school" there since he was 4 months old and has experienced the loving care of the teachers in Infant 1, Waddler 1 and Toddler 1 classrooms. Some days he has so much fun that he doesn't want to come home, and he talks constantly about his friends that he has made there. We continue to be amazed at everything he's learned - this past weekend he surprised us by counting 2-4-6-8-10 as we were cleaning up his books, and he's only 18 months old!
