Our Programs

Discovery Preschool Programs (2 – 3 Years)

At this age, children are making new discoveries daily. And as two-year olds begin to exert their independence, our Early Foundations® Discovery Preschool program is prepared to open their eyes to a world of learning, sharing, and exploring. Our holistic approach in the classroom engages young minds with a blend of music, art, and movement, as well as the early education fundamentals they'll need as they continue on to preschool.

Preschool Programs (3 – 4 Years)

As preschoolers gain more self-esteem, they may feel ready to take on the world. Our Early Foundations® Preschool program enhances that confidence by providing activities to help children become problem solvers and lifelong learners. Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, children will work on early literacy, math, science, and social studies concepts. A healthy dose of running, jumping, and dancing keeps them active too.

Prekindergarten Programs (4 – 5 Years)

Prekindergartners are preparing for the adventure of a lifetime – school. And our Early Foundations Prekindergarten® program is designed to get them ready by teaching letters and words, math concepts, and valuable social skills. With small group instruction, independent play in an organized atmosphere, and whole-group activities, children will have all the right skills to hop, skip, and jump right into kindergarten.

Private Kindergarten Programs (5 – 6 Years)

As children reach school age, our comprehensive full-day kindergarten program helps them explore, communicate, and create – all in a nurturing, small-class setting. Our team of expert educators has created a unique curriculum of reading, language, arts, math, science, and physical fitness that’s presented in a fun way to encourage a lifelong love of learning. Plus, our program is aligned with local and state elementary school standards, so children will be prepared to confidently enter first grade.

Before- & After-School Programs (5 – 12 Years)

Even after school's out for the day, children need to be engaged in a comfortable, yet stimulating environment. That's where our Catch the Wave® program comes in. This innovative before – and after-school program allows school-age children to balance learning and fun through a variety of experiences. From homework help to fun physical activities, our program is designed so that everyone goes home happy.

Summer Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Don’t miss out on KinderCare’s Summer of Wonder: Six themed programs that will make summer exciting, educational and tons of fun. Whether your child is in our preschool, Pre-K or school-age programs, all of it is designed to help children learn while soaking up the fun. We offer flexible scheduling options to meet the needs of busy families like yours so we hope to see you there.

Participating Child Care Aware Center

KinderCare has partnered with Child Care Aware® of America in an effort to offer fee assistance for Active Duty military families and solutions to their child care needs when care at a Child Development Center on the installation is not available.

Learning Adventures - Enrichment Program

The Cooking Adventures program gives children opportunities to participate in fun, developmentally appropriate cooking experiences. They will learn about recipes, ingredients, cooking vocabulary, and the importance of a healthy diet. The curriculum includes lessons on picnics, pizza, and heart-healthy meals.

Ongoing research proves that early exposure to music helps children think, reason, create, and express themselves. Children will laugh and learn about rhythm, vocal melodies, and a variety of musical genres and instruments, which can lower stress and advance memory. Learning never sounded so good.

Phonics & Reading Adventures

Set your child up for advanced success with literacy through phonics, the study of letters and sounds. Reader books, games, and activity cards help your child understand the basics of vowels and blending syllables, giving him confidence and command of language.

The educators and staff members at North Elston KinderCare, are passionate about educating and nurturing children. Combined our staff has over 25 years of experience educating, caring and nurturing children. Every educator is teacher qualified with a Child Development Associate's Credential, Associate's, Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Education. Here, at North Elston KinderCare, we strive for excellence through continuing education and bi-annual company Professional Development Trainings to keep learning and refreshing ourselves so we can continue to provide the best of ourselves to your children.

Children don't remember what you try to teach them.  They remember what you are." -Jim Henson

Elizabeth comes to us from the lush rolling cornfields of Iowa.  She studied Speech and Hearing Science at the University of Iowa with an emphasis on education and foreign language. Elizabeth started at Northwestern CCLC, our sister center, as a Discovery Preschool teacher in August of 2008.  In her time at the center, Elizabeth also held positions as Enrichment Coordinator, Program Specialist, Assistant Director, and Interim Director.  In August of 2012 Elizabeth received the Knowledge Universe Educator of the Year award, and has presented twice at the annual NAEYC conference on the topic of Community Partnerships.  Elizabeth joined the Elston KinderCare team in June of 2015 and is very excited to embark on this next chapter in her life.  Elizabeth enjoys working with young children because it gives her a unique perspective on life; she sometimes wishes she too could slump down to the floor in protest when someone takes the last waffle.  Even in her position as center director, the very best parts of Elizabeth's day, are those spent in the classrooms interacting with the children she serves.

Health and Safety

At North Elston KinderCare, your child's safety is our top priority. Not only are all of our outside perimeter doors locked to ensure security, but our playground is fenced with a locked gate as well. In addition, the front door of the building has a coded entry where only authorized family members will have the code to enter. A doorbell is available for visitors who will be greeted by a Center staff member. At North Elston KinderCare we conduct monthly tornado and fire drills. All staff members are CPR and Pediatric First Aid Certified and our center is highly maintained daily for cleanliness.

At KinderCare, what families say about us means a lot. Read below some of the great experiences our families have had with us.

I wanted to send a quick note to comment on the teachers at the Elston Kindercare. This week marks one year since we put our daughter, Ava, at the center. Choosing a new school was a last minute, and very difficult decision for us as our daughter, Ava, was in a situation where she had been bitten several times by another student with no action taken by the school. During a two-week period we toured many daycare centers within the City of Chicago to find a suitable place were we would feel comfortable enrolling her. Such places included: North Avenue KinderCare, Chez Kids Academy, Kids Work, Montessori, etc. After a vigorous search, we decided primary based on our interactions with Tracey, and the educators at the Elston location to enroll her at the Elston KinderCare. A year later we are very pleased and have no regrets with the decision. Throughout the last year my wife and I have had an exceptional experience at the North Elston KinderCare. Any issues or concerns we've had, we bring them to Tracey or any teacher and they are immediately addressed. All questions with regards to her learning curriculum are answered in a timely manner. Through combinations of extra activities, educational initiatives we've put in place plus the LA Phonics curriculum Ava attends several times per week at the center, at the age of two Ava reads, spells and writes basic three to four letter words, making her educationally ahead for her age group. While I am very satisfied with everything listed above the most important thing for my family and I happens every morning when we drop her off. We are confident she is safe, and we are not worried throughout the day compared to how we felt a year ago. I take this time to write this note because our daughter is the most important person in our lives, and we want to acknowledge the great experience we've had at the center. After a year of seeing the same teachers and getting the same friendly greeting twice a day, we are happy to call the Elston KinderCare home for Ava when we are at work. With having such a great staff in place at that location, I would definitely recommend the school to any of my employees and fellow business owners at the Chamber.

- Father

I had both of my sons in KinderCare since the age of two. My youngest is five and still with KinderCare. I love this center and its staff for many reasons: 1) I have a peace of mind knowing my children are safe; 2) The staff is very loving with the children and really get to know their little personalities; 3) I have a child with medical special needs and I have been able to work with the staff to manage the extra attention required to care for him; 4) Both my sons have taken Kelsey's Phonics and are advanced in their writing and reading skills. My oldest is eight years old now and has been in a Regional Gifted program since Kindergarten. My five year old will be attending the same school under the Magnet-liberal arts program; and 5) I love the center staff. They are like an extended family. I especially love, Tracey, the Director.
There are many more reasons why we have stayed with KinderCare. I know that if I were to have another child, KinderCare would be my first choice.

- Parent

My son has being coming to Kindercare for three months now and he loves it! When we arrive at the center, he runs to the doors, because he cannot wait to learn. The staff is just wonderful, so I'm one happy mommy!
