Welcome

At KinderCare of Greatwood you will find that our commitment to high-quality care and education shows in everything we do. Our experts designed our classrooms — and every activity and lesson — to help prepare children for success in school and beyond. You will find that our classrooms feature a print-rich environment full of carefully selected materials, written charts and labels, and children’s literature. By helping children connect spoken words and print, we’re helping develop early literacy and writing skills. Your child will receive the personal support and attention that is necessary to build trust and confidence. We know that selecting preschool, infant care, or before- and after-school care can be a challenge for concerned parents, and rightly so. The first years of life are critical to your child's long-term development, making your choice of an early childhood learning center one of the most vital decisions you will ever make as a parent. Whether your child has first words or first grade on the horizon, we’re excited to show you how everything in our center is designed for learning!

AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited–nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference, and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

SCHOOL-READY

Our kids are taking off!

By kindergarten, our kids are testing ahead of their peers. Read all about it.

Accreditation

Many of our child care centers are accredited by national organizations that require us to meet rigorous early childhood education standards and guidelines for high-quality care and education. Programs that are accredited have demonstrated their commitment to go beyond the state’s minimum licensing requirements to meet and maintain these high standards of quality.

Monthly Activities

March's Learning Focus

Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: Amazing Animals

Animals really are amazing, and this month the children in the Infant and Toddler Classrooms are learning all about them. We’ll read about both domestic and wild animals and base our activities and play around them as well. Besides singing songs, crafting, and talking about different animals, we’ll also bring in pictures of our pets, make our own animal sounds and movements, and incorporate animals into cognitive, literacy, and mathematic learning appropriate for each age group. For example, the older children in Discovery Preschool will count goldfish crackers or spots on a dog, while the littlest ones will keep developing their senses by sorting and playing with stuffed animals that have different kinds of pretend fur. This is a very sweet and fun unit for children in each class!

Children 4–5 years old: The Sky and Weather + My Imagination

The four- and five-year-olds will turn their attention to the sky and explore the bounds of their own imaginations this month. Children will learn how clouds and different kinds of weather are created, and do fun theme-related activities like create whipped-topping storm clouds or pretend to be a weather reporter. Our Transitional Kindergarten class will take their learning even farther by doing basic research into how rainbows are formed. The second half of the month will give children a big chance to express themselves through art, music, and drama. We’ll use classic stories like The Three Little Pigs to spark children’s creativity and see where their imaginations lead. As always, we weave our themes into literacy and math activities, and place a focus on building both English and Spanish vocabulary.

Come get a sneak peek of summer at KinderCare during our Open House event, from April 10th – 14th.

At KinderCare, our summer adventures are designed for learning and fun. We love taking our experiments outside, having special guests visit our centers, and even exploring our senses on walks outside or by rolling around in the cool grass. We can’t wait to meet you and show you what makes our centers special and why we would love to spend our summer with you!

Our Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks - 1 year)

Babies grow and learn every day. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing "home away from home" where babies can explore and make new discoveries. We know that learning through play is extremely valuable at this age and our Early Foundations® Infant program is designed to give babies the skills that will serve as the building blocks for a lifetime of learning.

Toddler Programs (1 – 2 Years)

As toddlers develop friendships, self-esteem, and curiosity, our Early Foundations® Toddler program will help them explore their world in a safe and nurturing environment. Our unique curriculum is based on the philosophy that children learn best through experiences. So each day is filled with fun activities that excite and develop toddlers, giving them the comfort and confidence to speak those first few important words, as well as make their first friends.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2 – 3 Years)

At this age, children are making new discoveries daily. And as two-year olds begin to exert their independence, our Early Foundations® Discovery Preschool program is prepared to open their eyes to a world of learning, sharing, and exploring. Our holistic approach in the classroom engages young minds with a blend of music, art, and movement, as well as the early education fundamentals they'll need as they continue on to preschool.

Preschool Programs (3 – 4 Years)

As preschoolers gain more self-esteem, they may feel ready to take on the world. Our Early Foundations® Preschool program enhances that confidence by providing activities to help children become problem solvers and lifelong learners. Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, children will work on early literacy, math, science, and social studies concepts. A healthy dose of running, jumping, and dancing keeps them active too.

Prekindergarten Programs (4 – 5 Years)

Prekindergartners are preparing for the adventure of a lifetime – school. And our Early Foundations Prekindergarten® program is designed to get them ready by teaching letters and words, math concepts, and valuable social skills. With small group instruction, independent play in an organized atmosphere, and whole-group activities, children will have all the right skills to hop, skip, and jump right into kindergarten.

Before- & After-School Programs (5 – 12 Years)

Even after school's out for the day, children need to be engaged in a comfortable, yet stimulating environment. That's where our Catch the Wave® program comes in. This innovative before – and after-school program allows school-age children to balance learning and fun through a variety of experiences. From homework help to fun physical activities, our program is designed so that everyone goes home happy.

Summer Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Don’t miss out on KinderCare’s Summer of Wonder: Six themed programs that will make summer exciting, educational and tons of fun. Whether your child is in our preschool, Pre-K or school-age programs, all of it is designed to help children learn while soaking up the fun. We offer flexible scheduling options to meet the needs of busy families like yours so we hope to see you there.

Learning Adventures - Enrichment Program

Cooking

The Cooking Adventures program gives children opportunities to participate in fun, developmentally appropriate cooking experiences. They will learn about recipes, ingredients, cooking vocabulary, and the importance of a healthy diet. The curriculum includes lessons on picnics, pizza, and heart-healthy meals.

Music

Ongoing research proves that early exposure to music helps children think, reason, create, and express themselves. Children will laugh and learn about rhythm, vocal melodies, and a variety of musical genres and instruments, which can lower stress and advance memory. Learning never sounded so good.

Phonics & Reading Adventures

Set your child up for advanced success with literacy through phonics, the study of letters and sounds. Reader books, games, and activity cards help your child understand the basics of vowels and blending syllables, giving him confidence and command of language.

Teachers & Staff

Our loving and devoted professionals at KinderCare are passionate about teaching and caring for young children. Our teachers exceed the state minimum standards for education and ongoing professional development. They are devoted to providing high-quality child care coupled with hands-on educational experiences. Families meet with our teachers three times per year to review their child’s progress. We will share your child's progress and experiences. Our teachers are excited to work with your family and your child.

Health and Safety

Our first priority at our Greatwood KinderCare is the safety of the children in our care. In order to ensure the safety of our children and teachers, we have a secure keypad entry system at the front door. Upon enrollment, our families are given a code which allows them entry to our building. Additionally, all of our playgrounds are fenced in and secured. Our teachers and our Health and Safety Coordinator perform daily checks of our playground before our children are allowed to go outside and play. We also require all of our teachers to be CPR and First Aid certified.

At KinderCare, what families say about us means a lot. Read below some of the great experiences our families have had with us.

Share Your Story
If you have a story about your experience at KinderCare, please share your story with us.

My daughter started at KinderCare at around 18 months in the Toddler Classroom; she is now four years old and has progressed wonderfully to their Prekindergarten Classroom. She loves going to school! Ms. Hellena was a godsend when it came to potty-training--my daughter was practically trained in a week! Ms. Nicole is absolutely wonderful as a teacher and has made prekindergarten fun for her. She is also a part of two of their Learning Adventures programs. She loves Cooking Club and Phonics. She always comes home telling us about her day and how much she likes it there. They have many teachers who have been there over ten years; one of them for 30 years! Each and every one of their teachers knows us by name, making us feel like family. This all makes me more than comfortable leaving my daughter in their care every day. It's like a home away from home!

- Father

My daughter is now four years old and started at Greatwood KinderCare a few days after turning three.  She spent the first three years with her grandmother, which was wonderful because of the one-on-one attention. However, the down side is that she did not have much interaction with other children. Although she is very bright, she needed confidence and to learn how to socialize with other children. I chose this child care facility primarily because of Ms. Jennifer. The excitement, happiness, and care for her children and staff is evident. Ms. Jennifer understood my concerns and is willing to work with me in regards to scheduling. Whenever I have a concern, either about my child's development or something specific, everyone is genuinely responsive and understanding of my feelings. It is also obvious that all of the teachers know my child as an individual, so they treat her as a unique person and care deeply about her. I visited a lot of fancy Montessori schools and other learning facilities, but chose KinderCare because she could grow as a whole person in their environment. It is more than learning the alphabet--it is about knowing she is part of a family when I am not with her.

- Mother

My son, who is five years old, has been attending your KinderCare Greatwood center for a short time. As parents, we all wish that we would not need child care services for our children, but the reality is that some of us do. As a result, we are faced with the important decision of finding a facility that will provide the love and care that they deserve, and gives us parents the peace of mind knowing that while we are away from them during the day, they are loved, safe, secure, and learning to interact with other children of the same age group, which is so important. KinderCare has more than met my expectations in these areas, and I feel very fortunate to have had my son at this center. He loves the friends he has made and the teacher, Ms. Shirley, is kind and patient with our overactive son. He will begin kindergarten this fall and still be cared for by KinderCare in their after-school program. I cannot thank the KinderCare staff enough for the love and care they have provided not only for my son, but for all the children in their care.

- Father

My son has been attending Greatwood KinderCare since he was an eight-month-old, and is now five years old. The great direction of the Center Director, Ms. Jennifer, and his wonderful teacher, Ms. Joann, is one of the many reasons we have stayed here for so long. They are very attentive to him. They listen to me whenever I have concerns and have taught him a lot, to where he is more than ready for kindergarten this fall! They have many different programs for all the children. I am very grateful for all of their help, as they are truly his home away from home. Thank you to Jennifer, Joann, and all the wonderful teachers and staff who have touched my son's life. We appreciate you more than you will ever know!

- Mother

My daughter has only attended Greatwood KinderCare for nine months, but we absolutely love the staff. My daughter has been fortunate to have a family member watch her for four years, but as kindergarten is around the corner, my daughter was needing to learn some of the classroom environment/children interaction with others her age, which has lead us to KinderCare. She has definitely overcome all of the worries I thought would be big issues and them some. Thank you, Greatwood staff, for your commitment, support, and caring hearts for my child!
