AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited–nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference, and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

SCHOOL-READY

Our kids are taking off!

By kindergarten, our kids are testing ahead of their peers. Read all about it.

Accreditation

Many of our child care centers are accredited by national organizations that require us to meet rigorous early childhood education standards and guidelines for high-quality care and education. Programs that are accredited have demonstrated their commitment to go beyond the state’s minimum licensing requirements to meet and maintain these high standards of quality.

Monthly Activities

April's Learning Focus

Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: Growing Gardens

What better time to explore the beauty and science of flowers and gardens than the spring? Infants’ learning will focus on sensory experiences with different plants and flowers, while toddlers and three-year-olds have the opportunity to learn how to care for plants. We’ll plant seeds in soil, water the plants, observe bugs and discover how they help plants grow, and even plant a butterfly garden outside! We’ll build math skills by counting seeds, learn new vocabulary words related to flowers and plants, and as always, sing songs and read books involving gardens.

Children 4–5 years old: In the Spring + Wild Animals

For children in the Preschool and Transitional Kindergarten Classrooms, April is about exploring all things spring and discovering wild animals! Preschoolers will look for signs of spring outdoors, make mud cakes and count the twigs placed in them, and paint still-life paintings of things related to spring. When our learning turns to wild animals, we’ll learn about the habitats and habits of creatures big and small while maintaining a focus on learning lowercase letters.

The older children in Transitional Kindergarten will focus on project-related work and pick something to work on together. In years past, children have painted a mural, made spring parade floats, painted wild animal masks, and created a model of a wild animal’s habitat. Both of these units focus on expanding the children’s understanding of the natural world around them.

Our Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks - 1 year)

Babies grow and learn every day. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing "home away from home" where babies can explore and make new discoveries. We know that learning through play is extremely valuable at this age and our Early Foundations® Infant program is designed to give babies the skills that will serve as the building blocks for a lifetime of learning.

Toddler Programs (1 – 2 Years)

As toddlers develop friendships, self-esteem, and curiosity, our Early Foundations® Toddler program will help them explore their world in a safe and nurturing environment. Our unique curriculum is based on the philosophy that children learn best through experiences. So each day is filled with fun activities that excite and develop toddlers, giving them the comfort and confidence to speak those first few important words, as well as make their first friends.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2 – 3 Years)

At this age, children are making new discoveries daily. And as two-year olds begin to exert their independence, our Early Foundations® Discovery Preschool program is prepared to open their eyes to a world of learning, sharing, and exploring. Our holistic approach in the classroom engages young minds with a blend of music, art, and movement, as well as the early education fundamentals they'll need as they continue on to preschool.

Preschool Programs (3 – 4 Years)

As preschoolers gain more self-esteem, they may feel ready to take on the world. Our Early Foundations® Preschool program enhances that confidence by providing activities to help children become problem solvers and lifelong learners. Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, children will work on early literacy, math, science, and social studies concepts. A healthy dose of running, jumping, and dancing keeps them active too.

Prekindergarten Programs (4 – 5 Years)

Prekindergartners are preparing for the adventure of a lifetime – school. And our Early Foundations Prekindergarten® program is designed to get them ready by teaching letters and words, math concepts, and valuable social skills. With small group instruction, independent play in an organized atmosphere, and whole-group activities, children will have all the right skills to hop, skip, and jump right into kindergarten.

Summer Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Don’t miss out on KinderCare’s Summer of Wonder: Six themed programs that will make summer exciting, educational and tons of fun. Whether your child is in our preschool, Pre-K or school-age programs, all of it is designed to help children learn while soaking up the fun. We offer flexible scheduling options to meet the needs of busy families like yours so we hope to see you there.

Participating Child Care Aware Center

KinderCare has partnered with Child Care Aware® of America in an effort to offer fee assistance for Active Duty military families and solutions to their child care needs when care at a Child Development Center on the installation is not available.

Learning Adventures - Enrichment Program

Cooking

The Cooking Adventures program gives children opportunities to participate in fun, developmentally appropriate cooking experiences. They will learn about recipes, ingredients, cooking vocabulary, and the importance of a healthy diet. The curriculum includes lessons on picnics, pizza, and heart-healthy meals.

Math

The Math Adventures enrichment program is designed to teach important mathematics concepts such as geometry, numbers, measurement, and probability. Your child will learn about length, height, and weight. He will learn about shapes and solids. He will learn how to add, subtract, multiply, and count money. Math is everywhere and giving your child every advantage now will add up to success later in life.

Phonics & Reading Adventures

Set your child up for advanced success with literacy through phonics, the study of letters and sounds. Reader books, games, and activity cards help your child understand the basics of vowels and blending syllables, giving him confidence and command of language.

Health and Safety

Del Mar Highlands KinderCare believes strongly in our health and safety program. Health and safety is our number one priority for not only the children, but also our staff. We provide updated health and safety information in our bulletin board located next to our Toddler Classroom. There you can find information regarding our policies and the different ways we are keeping our center safe for the children. We conduct monthly fire drills, earthquake drills and disaster drills to make sure our staff and children know how to be safe during one of these emergencies. We conduct daily health checks every morning to make sure our children are ready to give 100% each and every day. We also conduct playground and school safety checks. We have a health and safety coordinator on site each and every day to complete daily inspections and observations of staff procedures.

At KinderCare, what families say about us means a lot. Read below some of the great experiences our families have had with us.

Share Your Story
If you have a story about your experience at KinderCare, please share your story with us.

Our son transferred from one KinderCare Center to another at the beginning of the year. The transition was so easy because the KinderCare organization does a great job of providing consistent care and education at all its facilities. We were so appreciative to join a class with long tenured teachers as well as a center with long tenured administrators. The facility runs smoothly and all staff members are welcoming and engaging. Ms. Meriel and Ms. Lyn are a dynamic duo at the Del Mar facility. They embraced our son with open arms and also took interest in our older son, inquiring about his day at school too. The Preschool classroom is full of creativity and education and balanced with organization and consistency.

- Mother

I have been taking my daughter to this preschool for almost two years since she was six weeks old. Although I was a bit apprehensive about leaving my little one in someone else's hands at such young age, I have been very satisfied with my decision. The school is very well run and I can tell they put their hearts and soul in each and every child under their supervision. My daughter has had the same teachers since she started and I can tell they adore her and she loves them back. This is a blessing since I had heard of so much turnover in this industry. It is a great peace of mind to know that she is in really good hands and has exposure to so many activities and to children from so many different countries (her infant room has children from five countries!). The school director, Ms. Lorena, is very seasoned and professional yet very approachable, always willing to answer any questions I have. Thank you, KinderCare, for welcoming us everyday with a smile and for doing such a great job

- Father

For our family, Kindercare in Del Mar has almost been a permanent fixture - we have had four children pass through that facility over the last 12 years. Lorena Arizaga, who is currently the Center Director, has been involved with two of our children and has been a considerable asset for us and the well-being of our kids. Lorena has brought a structure that is always efficient while being deeply personable, making the entire experience extremely pleasant for both the children and parents. We are really glad to have her!

- Parent

My family has been a client of KinderCare’s for over six years in San Diego. My four-year-old currently attends and my seven-year-old attended KinderCare Del Mar Highlands center. We have known the center director, Lorena, for the entire time. When she started working at the center, there was a lot of teacher turnover which is very disruptive to our children. Now, there is virtually no turnover. We know all of the teachers by name and they have all been there a while. Lorena is very organized and is very concerned with the children’s safety and comfort. She has done so many things to help our family and to ensure we have a good experience at KinderCare. The teachers are amazing. They greet the children by name and give them hugs in the morning when the kids are not ready to go to school and leave their families. My four-year-old loves her teacher so much and talks about her all the time at home like she is her best pal. KinderCare is our extended family, since we do not have any family in the San Diego area. Lorena and her team has made us feel that we are not alone and that we have some safe, fun, nurturing place for our children to spend their days. I recommend the center and Lorena without hesitation. If you would like to get in touch with me, please get my information from Lorena.

- Mother

I just wanted to send a quick note regarding the pre-k class and what a wonderful job Mrs. Amanda and Ms. Tiffany have done with my son Joey. This year has been amazing with the new curriculum! Joey remained excited about school, excited about learning, and has even read his first book! That's amazing! Phonics and math have really brought him a long way!
Joey starts kindergarten in September and we are going to miss everyone at the center including you Mrs. Lorena and Ms. Leone. You all have been more than just teachers! You have been co-parents, friends, and advisors to me; a first time parent (Single parent) with no experience at any of the trials of parenthood.

Thank you for hanging in there with me and Joey! We adore each and everyone of you!
