Welcome

Welcome to our nationally accredited Mary Street KinderCare! Our school is conveniently located in Lansing, KS at the corner of K-7 and Mary Street. We proudly serve our military with easy access from Ft. Leavenworth. Our tenured and educated teachers take pride in ensuring your child is immersed in a loving and nurturing environment that fosters a love of learning. We are more than a day care and/or child care center; we are a school that has been nationally recognized for providing exceptional curriculum designed to meet each child’s individual needs. According to new data, kindergarten students who experience our high-quality early childhood education were on average four months ahead of their peers nationally. The study was conducted using Terra Nova, a widely used standardized assessment tool. These findings are consistent with other assessments, including previous results from the Maryland Model for School Readiness, which measures the impact that our learning programs have on children. Students enrolled in KinderCare centers for more than one year yielded even higher scores. We invite you to experience the accreditation difference by scheduling a tour at our school.

AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited–nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference, and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

Our kids are taking off!

By kindergarten, our kids are testing ahead of their peers. Read all about it.

Accreditation

Many of our child care centers are accredited by national organizations that require us to meet rigorous early childhood education standards and guidelines for high-quality care and education. Programs that are accredited have demonstrated their commitment to go beyond the state’s minimum licensing requirements to meet and maintain these high standards of quality.

Monthly Activities

June's Learning Focus

Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: Wonderful Water and Insects and Spiders

Infants and toddlers will be exploring the wonderful world of water as the children in Discovery Preschool dig into the creepy-crawly world of insects and spiders! Infants will have the chance to practice splashing, scooping, pouring, and playing with bubbles, while toddlers will take a swim on the creative side as they paint with water and create habitats for sea animals. Children in Discovery Preschool will focus on science as they learn about the differences between insects and spiders, how caterpillars turn into butterflies, and how bees pollinate flowers and make honey. Children’s creativity will blossom as they use dried pasta to create butterfly artwork!

Children 4 to 5 years old: Staying Safe and Exploring the Arts

In this modern world, safety is never overrated—and that’s why we take the first half of June to teach children all about how to keep themselves safe in different situations and places. After that, children will delve into the arts as they learn about visual art, musical art, dancing, and acting, and discover the different types of art, music, and dance that exist around the world. Preschoolers will focus on number recognition in order to learn their phone numbers and how to call 911, the Pre-K class will examine how art concepts and techniques are used in famous works of art, and our kindergartners will collaborate on a group project together, such as making first aid kits or choreographing their own dance routine!

Our Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks - 1 year)

Babies grow and learn every day. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing "home away from home" where babies can explore and make new discoveries. We know that learning through play is extremely valuable at this age and our Early Foundations® Infant program is designed to give babies the skills that will serve as the building blocks for a lifetime of learning.

Toddler Programs (1 – 2 Years)

As toddlers develop friendships, self-esteem, and curiosity, our Early Foundations® Toddler program will help them explore their world in a safe and nurturing environment. Our unique curriculum is based on the philosophy that children learn best through experiences. So each day is filled with fun activities that excite and develop toddlers, giving them the comfort and confidence to speak those first few important words, as well as make their first friends.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2 – 3 Years)

At this age, children are making new discoveries daily. And as two-year olds begin to exert their independence, our Early Foundations® Discovery Preschool program is prepared to open their eyes to a world of learning, sharing, and exploring. Our holistic approach in the classroom engages young minds with a blend of music, art, and movement, as well as the early education fundamentals they'll need as they continue on to preschool.

Preschool Programs (3 – 4 Years)

As preschoolers gain more self-esteem, they may feel ready to take on the world. Our Early Foundations® Preschool program enhances that confidence by providing activities to help children become problem solvers and lifelong learners. Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, children will work on early literacy, math, science, and social studies concepts. A healthy dose of running, jumping, and dancing keeps them active too.

Prekindergarten Programs (4 – 5 Years)

Prekindergartners are preparing for the adventure of a lifetime – school. And our Early Foundations Prekindergarten® program is designed to get them ready by teaching letters and words, math concepts, and valuable social skills. With small group instruction, independent play in an organized atmosphere, and whole-group activities, children will have all the right skills to hop, skip, and jump right into kindergarten.

Before- & After-School Programs (5 – 12 Years)

Even after school's out for the day, children need to be engaged in a comfortable, yet stimulating environment. That's where our Catch the Wave® program comes in. This innovative before – and after-school program allows school-age children to balance learning and fun through a variety of experiences. From homework help to fun physical activities, our program is designed so that everyone goes home happy.

Summer Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Don’t miss out on KinderCare’s Summer of Wonder: Six themed programs that will make summer exciting, educational and tons of fun. Whether your child is in our preschool, Pre-K or school-age programs, all of it is designed to help children learn while soaking up the fun. We offer flexible scheduling options to meet the needs of busy families like yours so we hope to see you there.

Participating Child Care Aware Center

KinderCare has partnered with Child Care Aware® of America in an effort to offer fee assistance for Active Duty military families and solutions to their child care needs when care at a Child Development Center on the installation is not available.

Learning Adventures - Enrichment Program

Cooking

The Cooking Adventures program gives children opportunities to participate in fun, developmentally appropriate cooking experiences. They will learn about recipes, ingredients, cooking vocabulary, and the importance of a healthy diet. The curriculum includes lessons on picnics, pizza, and heart-healthy meals.

Math

The Math Adventures enrichment program is designed to teach important mathematics concepts such as geometry, numbers, measurement, and probability. Your child will learn about length, height, and weight. He will learn about shapes and solids. He will learn how to add, subtract, multiply, and count money. Math is everywhere and giving your child every advantage now will add up to success later in life.

Music

Ongoing research proves that early exposure to music helps children think, reason, create, and express themselves. Children will laugh and learn about rhythm, vocal melodies, and a variety of musical genres and instruments, which can lower stress and advance memory. Learning never sounded so good.

Phonics & Reading Adventures

Set your child up for advanced success with literacy through phonics, the study of letters and sounds. Reader books, games, and activity cards help your child understand the basics of vowels and blending syllables, giving him confidence and command of language.

Teachers & Staff

Welcome to the nationally accredited Mary Street KinderCare! Our tenured staff has almost 100 years of combined experience working with children. As a Nationally Accredited early learning center, our teachers go above and beyond state and local regulations. All staff members are CPR and Pediatric First Aid Certified as well as trained in safe sleep practices. KinderCare provides high-quality training over the minimum amount required by the state. We use positive child guidance and an all-inclusive approach to helping children build social skills that last a lifetime. We also give every teacher the opportunity to get their child development associate credential through our company and additional support for furthering their education. Come and visit our KinderCare family soon to see all the wonderful things we can offer your family!

Health and Safety

Our top priority at KinderCare is to provide a safe and healthy environment for our children, families, and staff. We do this through rigorous training and constant assessment and evaluation of proper policies and procedures. Your child’s security begins at the front door--literally. All guests and those authorized for pick-up are checked for identification and escorted through the building. Of course, our teachers have all cleared local, state, and federal background checks, including fingerprinting. We are trained in infant and child CPR and First Aid. We do routine fire, storm, and lock-down drills to prepare for the unexpected. Throughout the day, your child will be supervised at all times. Teachers have all been trained in supervision, discipline and guidance, and developmentally appropriate practices to ensure they understand the risks associated with the children in their care. If your child has food allergies or specific medical conditions, we will work with you to ensure your child’s well-being while in our care. We also take the responsibility of your child’s emotional security very seriously. We want every child to feel safe, loved, and respected while at KinderCare.

At KinderCare, what families say about us means a lot. Read below some of the great experiences our families have had with us.

Share Your Story
If you have a story about your experience at KinderCare, please share your story with us.

You know you’ve found the right daycare when your toddler is excited to go each morning. On our morning drive to school, he will excitedly talk about all of the fun things that could happen today and I know his teacher will have a creative project that involves his current interests waiting for us when we arrive. I also know he’ll continue to be academically challenged all while having a wonderful time in a very nurturing environment. Mary Street KinderCare has gone above and beyond for my family since we started at the center a little over two years ago. My husband and I did extensive research and had our checklist ready when we arrived for our first on-site visit. We could not have been more at ease with each member of the staff--not only on a personal comfort level, but also with their level of expertise. From the very beginning, our son was given a curriculum based on his developmental stage, regardless of his age. His teachers have been critical partners in our potty training adventure as well as gentle nurturers during our transition from a family of three to a family of four. We know without a doubt that both of our children will be a priority for each member of the staff while they cultivate and nourish our children’s young minds and care for our most precious gifts.

- Mother

As a four-year-old from Belgium, our daughter was already used to a full-day kindergarten program, but she spoke no English at all. So we were looking for a full-day program that would continue her routine, while offering her enough support and confidence in an unknown surrounding where she was unable to communicate in the beginning. We found all that--and much more--at Mary Street KinderCare. Her teacher(s) offered her a warm environment and even made the effort through a voice recognition program to look up Dutch words at the start. It made communicating less frustrating for her and she felt listened to, even if it was difficult sometimes. After two weeks, she had her first tryouts in English and it quickly progressed after that. Ten months later, when it was time to return home, she was fluent in English, was very proud of the letters she could write and had made wonderful new friends, as well as lifelong memories. She had, as the rest of the family, a great year overseas, and the joy she experienced in her classroom contributed greatly to that.

- Mother

I am so thankful for Mary Street KinderCare making my transition from a stay-at-home mom into the workforce extremely easy. From day one, my kids have expressed their love for KinderCare and their wonderful teachers! I would definitely recommend them!

- Mother

This is by far the best child care option in the Leavenworth area. I highly recommend sending your children to this wonderful, loving environment (especially for those parents attending Command and General Staff College (CGSC) at Ft. Leavenworth). The teachers are patient, kind, and well-educated/trained in children's education needs. (The songs they made up to help learning be fun--like days of the week, sharing, food groups--were fun, silly, and a big hit with the kids!) I was amazed every day at how much my twin toddlers loved being there. Their teachers cared so much about the kids' well-being and growth that it was like dropping my children off at my favorite family member's house. Every parent I met was so happy with their choice in using this learning center, including me!

- Mother

Mary Street KinderCare has a fun, kind, and reliable staff who I completely trust with my son. I love that they care about him so much and they are so accommodating to our needs.
