9/18 UPDATE: Repairs have begun. Your center director will share updates with you as they’re available.

-------

Dear KinderCare Families,

We’re all devastated by the destruction Hurricane Harvey continues to have on our families and teachers in Texas and along the Gulf. Our hearts go out to all of the children we care for every day in our center and we hope you and your family are safe.

Although our center remains temporarily closed, we want to assure you we’ll reopen as soon as we can.

We know our families have immediate needs to attend to. Since our center is closed, we won’t charge families tuition this week. If you’ve already made a payment for this week’s tuition, we’re going to credit your account for that amount and apply it toward your first week back in our center.

Thank you for your patience as we join the recovery effort. We’re working hard to get our center up and running again, and we’ll post new information here as it becomes available, so check this page daily for updates.

As always, you can contact our Customer Care Team at 888 525 2780 if you have any questions. If you’re a KinderCare Education employee with questions, please reach out to your manager.

AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited–nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference, and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

SCHOOL-READY

Our kids are taking off!

By kindergarten, our kids are testing ahead of their peers. Read all about it.

Accreditation

Many of our child care centers are accredited by national organizations that require us to meet rigorous early childhood education standards and guidelines for high-quality care and education. Programs that are accredited have demonstrated their commitment to go beyond the state’s minimum licensing requirements to meet and maintain these high standards of quality.

Our Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks - 1 year)

Babies grow and learn every day. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing "home away from home" where babies can explore and make new discoveries. We know that learning through play is extremely valuable at this age and our Early Foundations® Infant program is designed to give babies the skills that will serve as the building blocks for a lifetime of learning.

Toddler Programs (1 – 2 Years)

As toddlers develop friendships, self-esteem, and curiosity, our Early Foundations® Toddler program will help them explore their world in a safe and nurturing environment. Our unique curriculum is based on the philosophy that children learn best through experiences. So each day is filled with fun activities that excite and develop toddlers, giving them the comfort and confidence to speak those first few important words, as well as make their first friends.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2 – 3 Years)

At this age, children are making new discoveries daily. And as two-year olds begin to exert their independence, our Early Foundations® Discovery Preschool program is prepared to open their eyes to a world of learning, sharing, and exploring. Our holistic approach in the classroom engages young minds with a blend of music, art, and movement, as well as the early education fundamentals they'll need as they continue on to preschool.

Preschool Programs (3 – 4 Years)

As preschoolers gain more self-esteem, they may feel ready to take on the world. Our Early Foundations® Preschool program enhances that confidence by providing activities to help children become problem solvers and lifelong learners. Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, children will work on early literacy, math, science, and social studies concepts. A healthy dose of running, jumping, and dancing keeps them active too.

Prekindergarten Programs (4 – 5 Years)

Prekindergartners are preparing for the adventure of a lifetime – school. And our Early Foundations Prekindergarten® program is designed to get them ready by teaching letters and words, math concepts, and valuable social skills. With small group instruction, independent play in an organized atmosphere, and whole-group activities, children will have all the right skills to hop, skip, and jump right into kindergarten.

Before- & After-School Programs (5 – 12 Years)

Even after school's out for the day, children need to be engaged in a comfortable, yet stimulating environment. That's where our Catch the Wave® program comes in. This innovative before – and after-school program allows school-age children to balance learning and fun through a variety of experiences. From homework help to fun physical activities, our program is designed so that everyone goes home happy.

Summer Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Don’t miss out on KinderCare’s Summer of Wonder: Six themed programs that will make summer exciting, educational and tons of fun. Whether your child is in our preschool, Pre-K or school-age programs, all of it is designed to help children learn while soaking up the fun. We offer flexible scheduling options to meet the needs of busy families like yours so we hope to see you there.

Participating Child Care Aware Center

KinderCare has partnered with Child Care Aware® of America in an effort to offer fee assistance for Active Duty military families and solutions to their child care needs when care at a Child Development Center on the installation is not available.

Learning Adventures - Enrichment Program

Cooking

The Cooking Adventures program gives children opportunities to participate in fun, developmentally appropriate cooking experiences. They will learn about recipes, ingredients, cooking vocabulary, and the importance of a healthy diet. The curriculum includes lessons on picnics, pizza, and heart-healthy meals.

Math

The Math Adventures enrichment program is designed to teach important mathematics concepts such as geometry, numbers, measurement, and probability. Your child will learn about length, height, and weight. He will learn about shapes and solids. He will learn how to add, subtract, multiply, and count money. Math is everywhere and giving your child every advantage now will add up to success later in life.

Music

Ongoing research proves that early exposure to music helps children think, reason, create, and express themselves. Children will laugh and learn about rhythm, vocal melodies, and a variety of musical genres and instruments, which can lower stress and advance memory. Learning never sounded so good.

Phonics & Reading Adventures

Set your child up for advanced success with literacy through phonics, the study of letters and sounds. Reader books, games, and activity cards help your child understand the basics of vowels and blending syllables, giving him confidence and command of language.

Teachers & Staff

The teachers and staff at Clear Lake KinderCare welcome you to our school. We are all very passionate about providing the best care and education for your child while you are away at work or school. Each day brings new fun activities and learning at our school, and we enjoy the opportunity to be a part of your family's day. We love to watch the children grow and learn, and so appreciate sharing that with all of our families. We strive for excellence in all that we do here at KinderCare, and look forward to having your child in our classrooms.

Ms. Mary Ann looks forward to working with children and helping them learn and grow each and every day.  She has successfully led her Teachers to gain recognition as a Nationally Accredited Program through NAC. Ms. Mary Ann is very proud of this achievement, which allows her center to provide a much higher quality early childhood education program.  In 2000, Ms. Mary Ann was awarded KinderCare Center Director of the Year.  She serves as a Quality Lead Trainer for KinderCare and spends time training and developing Teachers and Center Directors for KinderCare.

"I love seeing the smile on children's faces when they accomplish a task. I love hearing them proudly say "I did it!" whether they've just pulled up their pants, writing their name, or putting their toys away!

Ms. Zory's goal is to create a safe, nurturing “home away from home” where children can learn to express themselves and understand their own unique identities. She fills each day with fun activities that balance playtime, nurturing, and learning. Communication is important to Ms. Zory, so families in her classroom receive regular teacher-family communication, including daily updates, monthly newsletters, and scheduled parent/teacher conferences. Ms. Tina, Preschool Classroom

"I love knowing that I can help strengthen children's growth and development while preparing them for school.

Ms. Tina's goal is to provide a positive environment where language and literacy development will flourish. She believes that when children feel secure in their environment, they are more likely to engage in frequent, age-appropriate conversations that inherently build vocabulary and social skills. Ms. Tina works with children individually, in small groups, and as a whole group at different times during the day. She displays the children's original artwork, their own writing with invented spelling, and stories dictated by the children during our afternoon group time. She also sends home children’s work in their portfolios and take-home folders. Ms. Tina uses lacing cards, stencils, and writing activities to help children enhance their fine-motor skills; and uses running, jumping, and throwing activities to help children strengthen their coordination and gross-motor skills. Ms. Tina offers children healthful food choices for snacks and meals, while also helping children learn that what we eat is important, and that our bodies need the right amount of exercise and nutrition to stay healthy.

Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: Spaces and Places and All About Me
As infants and toddlers explore the spaces and places around them, children in Discovery Preschool will learn all about what makes people the same as well as what makes them different. Infants will experiment with moving toy cars around, build block towers and then knock them down, and even take a tour of the center to see what things are like outside of their classroom! Toddlers will get all revved up as they take a closer look at different vehicles and learn more about neighborhoods, communities, and the jobs that grownups have. In Discovery Preschool, children will be learning about themselves as they play games that strengthen their five senses, discuss feelings and emotions, practice self-help skills, and work on learning the names of body parts.

Children 4 to 5 years old: All About Me and My Home and Family
It’s the beginning of the school year—the perfect time to get to know each other better! Older children will be spending time sharing about themselves, their homes, and their families as they learn what makes people the same and what makes them different. Children will bring their own experiences to the drawing board as they create group stories and 3-D collages about families and homes, pantomime different home- and family-related activities, and draw self-portraits. With our curriculum’s project-related learning component, children in Transitional Kindergarten work together to decide on an individual or whole-group project related to the theme. Past projects have included creating a class book about emotions or working together to build a small-scale home, but who knows—the children may come up with a unique idea that’s entirely their own!

Health and Safety

At KinderCare Learning Centers, your child's safety is one of our top priorities. Not only are all of our outside perimeter doors locked to ensure security, but all of our playgrounds are fenced in as well. In addition, the front door of the building has a coded entry where only authorized family members have a code to enter. Otherwise, a door bell is available to visitors who will be greeted by a staff member. At KinderCare, we conduct monthly fire drills and quarterly severe weather drills. We also ensure that all staff members' First Aid and CPR certificates are renewed annually.

At KinderCare, what families say about us means a lot. Read below some of the great experiences our families have had with us.

As a single mother, it is very rewarding to know that my son is in good hands as I leave him every morning.  We are greeted with love and open arms each day, and I always receive kind words in the evening about his day.  The family activities that are offered each month are fun for both my son and I--it is a great way to see him in his element and gives me a chance to talk to the teachers. Ms. Mary and Ms. Claudia, along with their team, have high-quality care.

- Mother

We love Clear Lake KinderCare and are extremely grateful to all the teachers who have cared for our boys (who are now two and three), since they were eight weeks old. KinderCare has definitely been more of an extended family. Our boys love each and every teacher, and the teachers show the same feeling in return.  Our boys love going there and sometimes, when we arrive to pick them up, it's hard to get them to leave. That speaks volumes. We know that when we drop our kids off, they are in excellent hands!

- Mother

My child has been attending the after-school program at Clear Lake KinderCare and she loves it. She always raves about the fun after-school activities that are offered and the delicious snacks. I appreciate that the teacher (Ms. Franseca) takes the time to help my daughter with her homework every day. She is also looking forward to the fun summer activities and field trips. Safety is a big concern of mine, and Ms. Mary (Director) and Ms. Claudia (Assistant Director) go the extra mile to make sure they manage a safe place for children, even going as far as checking the buses every day after returning from drop-off in the morning and checking as well in the afternoon when the children arrive at the center. Ms. Mary and her staff go beyond customer service!

- Mother

Clear Lake KinderCare has been a great place for my family. My two-year-old has been here since she was five months old. She loves her teachers and has grown up with the friends in her class. Her favorite time of the day is story time with her teacher. She is always sitting as close as she can get! She also enjoys dancing to music and creating art projects. My eight-year-old is in the before- and after-school program. He enjoys riding the bus to school and spending time with the friends he has made. We are welcomed each morning by the staff as the kids are settled into their breakfast routine. I think it's great that my two kids get to eat together in spite of their age difference. The KinderCare staff teach and love my children like their own!

- Mother

I have been really impressed with the amount of care and individualized learning that I have seen in my toddler since being at Clear Lake KinderCare. Each week she tells me something new that she has learned while at school, like singing the months of the year. I haven't met another two-year-old who can sing all the months of the year and I cannot take credit for that!

- Mother

My child has attended the KinderCare on El Camino in Houston, Texas, since January of 2013. He was six months when he began and it was his first time in child care. My husband and I have been constantly impressed with the quality of care our son has received. What we love most is that even though our son is a baby, all of the instructors have really gotten to know and understand him as an individual, and given him the sort of care and attention that he needs. It is so clear that the instructors love all the kids and babies.
