Welcome

We are so glad you have inquired about our school! At our Germantown KinderCare quality is very important to us. We take great pleasure in serving our community and families. Our experts designed our classrooms — and every activity and lesson — to help prepare your child for success in school and beyond. With designated learning centers such as dramatic play and blocks in every classroom, children have the opportunity for rich social play and child-initiated discovery. You’ll also find that our classrooms feature a print-rich environment full of carefully selected materials, written charts and labels, and children’s literature. By helping your child connect spoken words and print, we’re helping develop early literacy and writing skills. Whether your child has first words or first grade on the horizon, we’re excited to show you how everything in our center is designed for learning!

AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited–nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference, and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

SCHOOL-READY

Our kids are taking off!

By kindergarten, our kids are testing ahead of their peers. Read all about it.

Accreditation

Many of our child care centers are accredited by national organizations that require us to meet rigorous early childhood education standards and guidelines for high-quality care and education. Programs that are accredited have demonstrated their commitment to go beyond the state’s minimum licensing requirements to meet and maintain these high standards of quality.

Monthly Activities

July's Learning Focus

Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: What’s the Weather and Wonderful Water
This month we go all natural as infants and toddlers are introduced to the weather and children in Discovery Preschool experiment and have fun with water. Sensory adventures will continue for infants as they explore playing with colored water and experiment with how pinwheels and scarves move in the wind. Meanwhile, toddlers will use musical instruments to create the sound of rain and will connect their learning to the world as they role-play different weather scenarios, such as a warm summer day at the beach and a cold, snowy winter day. In Discovery Preschool, children will be learning about different bodies of water as well as how people use water in their everyday lives.

Children 4 to 5 years old: Spectacular Science and All About Books
In the first two weeks of this month, we take older children on a scientific journey of discovery to learn more about the natural world before turning the focus to the amazing world of books! Preschoolers will learn about states of matter, force, motion, and magnetism; children in Pre-K will learn about natural formations like rivers, mountains, and deserts; and kindergarteners will discover the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling. When we turn to books, children will learn about the different parts of books, explore the roles of author and illustrator, and learn what makes a book fiction or nonfiction.

November's Learning Focus

Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: Foods and Flavors
This month infants, toddlers, and the little ones in Discovery Preschool will be exploring foods and flavors! It’s never too early to expose children to healthy food—even babies who aren’t eating solids yet. All children will explore, read about, play with, and create around different foods, but each age group will have a different focus. Infants will practice sensory exploration and create their own pretend soup, toddlers will count and measure food items, and the children in Discovery Preschool will learn about the different food groups—including a pretend farmers market.

Children 4–5 years old: Farms and Community
The older children will focus on learning first about farms, and then their community! Farms are filled with so many science- and social science-based learning opportunities for children. Children will learn all about barns and farming equipment, which animals are raised on a farm, and which crops are grown. They’ll also focus on their own communities and learn all about the different kinds of places that exist, the people who live there, and the jobs that those people do.

December's Learning Focus

Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: Family, Friends, and Things that Go!
Infants and toddlers will be exploring family and friends, while three-year-olds will focus on things that go vroom! Social and emotional development is foundational to growth and development in babies, so this month, infants and toddlers will participate in activities that reinforce their connection to family while also exploring connections that exist outside their home, such as friends. Meanwhile, their older friends in Discovery Preschool will learn about and play around with things that move (like bicycles, cars, buses, trains, and airplanes), which are all very exciting for little ones as they continue to explore the world outside their homes.

Children 4–5 years old: My Country + Tools and Machines
The four- and five-year-olds continue exploring the world around them by learning about the state and country they live in! They’ll sings songs, play games based on travel, and learn about flags, state foods, and more. Children will also be introduced to cardinal directions (east, west, north, and south) and gain an appreciation for travel and meeting new friends from different places. Children are naturally fascinated with machines and how things work and are put together. So to encourage that fascination, during the second half of this month children will learn about and play around with tools and machines. In addition to building literacy skills by using the names of machines and tools, children will develop math skills by graphing information, counting wheels, and more.

Our Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks - 1 year)

Babies grow and learn every day. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing "home away from home" where babies can explore and make new discoveries. We know that learning through play is extremely valuable at this age and our Early Foundations® Infant program is designed to give babies the skills that will serve as the building blocks for a lifetime of learning.

Toddler Programs (1 – 2 Years)

As toddlers develop friendships, self-esteem, and curiosity, our Early Foundations® Toddler program will help them explore their world in a safe and nurturing environment. Our unique curriculum is based on the philosophy that children learn best through experiences. So each day is filled with fun activities that excite and develop toddlers, giving them the comfort and confidence to speak those first few important words, as well as make their first friends.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2 – 3 Years)

At this age, children are making new discoveries daily. And as two-year olds begin to exert their independence, our Early Foundations® Discovery Preschool program is prepared to open their eyes to a world of learning, sharing, and exploring. Our holistic approach in the classroom engages young minds with a blend of music, art, and movement, as well as the early education fundamentals they'll need as they continue on to preschool.

Preschool Programs (3 – 4 Years)

As preschoolers gain more self-esteem, they may feel ready to take on the world. Our Early Foundations® Preschool program enhances that confidence by providing activities to help children become problem solvers and lifelong learners. Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, children will work on early literacy, math, science, and social studies concepts. A healthy dose of running, jumping, and dancing keeps them active too.

Prekindergarten Programs (4 – 5 Years)

Prekindergartners are preparing for the adventure of a lifetime – school. And our Early Foundations Prekindergarten® program is designed to get them ready by teaching letters and words, math concepts, and valuable social skills. With small group instruction, independent play in an organized atmosphere, and whole-group activities, children will have all the right skills to hop, skip, and jump right into kindergarten.

Before- & After-School Programs (5 – 12 Years)

Even after school's out for the day, children need to be engaged in a comfortable, yet stimulating environment. That's where our Catch the Wave® program comes in. This innovative before – and after-school program allows school-age children to balance learning and fun through a variety of experiences. From homework help to fun physical activities, our program is designed so that everyone goes home happy.

Summer Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Don’t miss out on KinderCare’s Summer of Wonder: Six themed programs that will make summer exciting, educational and tons of fun. Whether your child is in our preschool, Pre-K or school-age programs, all of it is designed to help children learn while soaking up the fun. We offer flexible scheduling options to meet the needs of busy families like yours so we hope to see you there.

Participating Child Care Aware Center

KinderCare has partnered with Child Care Aware® of America in an effort to offer fee assistance for Active Duty military families and solutions to their child care needs when care at a Child Development Center on the installation is not available.

Learning Adventures - Enrichment Program

Math

The Math Adventures enrichment program is designed to teach important mathematics concepts such as geometry, numbers, measurement, and probability. Your child will learn about length, height, and weight. He will learn about shapes and solids. He will learn how to add, subtract, multiply, and count money. Math is everywhere and giving your child every advantage now will add up to success later in life.

Teachers & Staff

Our team of teachers would like to welcome you to visit our school. We strive to provide the best of care for your child! We hope to have you join our KinderCare family shortly!

    Lani Cannon, Center Director

Lani fell into child care by accident. She always loved being around children and wanted to have a huge family. While transitioning out of the United States Air Force and into the Hawaii Air National Guard, Lani looked for a part-time job to get her by. She soon found herself working full-time as a preschool teacher and having children of her own.  She had three boys. After moving up in the Early Child Education field she became a Center Director on an Air Force installation in Hawaii. She then moved on to home-school her own children and run a family child car business out of her home. When her oldest son graduated and went to college she adopted her daughter.  She then entered back into the work force and was a Child Development Specialist and Early Childhood Trainer for the Hawaii. One of her jobs was leading the Exceptional Family Member Program for the military finding respite care providers and training them. She was then offered a job as a Family Outreach Specialist with a non-profit organization that specialized in education homeless parents and their children. Not long after that she was asked to become a Center Director for a child care center that was going through accreditation.  She took that position until moving to Maryland.

Share Your Story
If you have a story about your experience at KinderCare, please share your story with us.

I am writing you to sing the praise of Ms. Geeta and Ms. Zeeynup (Prekindergarten teachers). We have seen our child's reading and writing skills grow exponentially since she began the school year. Our child loves playing with her classmates, drawing, and painting; but most of all, she loves her two teachers. They are attentive, caring, and loving to Isabella as well as the other students. Ms. Geeta and Ms. Zeynup are doing a wonderful job of preparing our child for success.
I wanted to thank you and your program for helping us prepare our child for academic as well as social success. We will be forever grateful to Ms. Geeta and Ms. Zeeynup.

- Parents

I wish to thank you and commend your entire staff for the fabulous job that they do everyday taking care of the babies, teaching them and nurturing them. It has been only a month since Aaron started coming to KinderCare and I see how much he has changed; he comes home and sings the songs that was taught during the day and says his ABCs or the physical exercise his teacher taught him. I love the fact that you capture pictures of what Aaron does during the day--I simply love that idea! Sometime last week I asked Aaron who his favorite teacher is and he said Ms. Carla. I know Ms. Yan and Ms. Nakia do a great job as well and he loves them. I also know that he is a big fan of Ms. Nakia! Once again thank you SO much for all the efforts and dedication. I would recommend KinderCare to anyone I know who is looking for a reliable daycare.

- Mother

It is hard to believe that our daughter has been part of the KinderCare family for five wonderful years. It has been five wonderful years of caring, laughing, sharing, learning, and nurturing. Our daughter calls Ms. Maryam, Ms. Diane and Ms. Mary her KinderCare moms which is a testament that she adores you all. It has been a pleasure to have such dedicated professionals helping to ensure my daughter is ready for all of life's essential fundamentals.

- Mother

We are grateful for the great care of our daughter since she has been a toddler. Her teachers Ms. Sara, Ms. Sadri, Ms. Mary, Ms. Tiffany, Ms. Yan, Ms. Carla, Ms. Nakia and Ms. Nicole were wonderful. We also have to thank Ms. Elaina and Ms. Daisy for accommodating all of the needs for our daughter at your center. Thanks also to Ms. Diane for the math and phonics classes these are to be remembered.

- Father

We wanted to express our appreciation to our children's teachers. Ms. Mary, Ms. Tiffany, Ms. Nicole, Ms. Geeta, Ms. Prachi and Ms. Nadine are all doing a great job. We are delighted to have them as the educators of our kids. We are looking forward to another great year in your center.
