AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited–nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference, and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

SCHOOL-READY

Our kids are taking off!

By kindergarten, our kids are testing ahead of their peers. Read all about it.

Accreditation

Many of our child care centers are accredited by national organizations that require us to meet rigorous early childhood education standards and guidelines for high-quality care and education. Programs that are accredited have demonstrated their commitment to go beyond the state’s minimum licensing requirements to meet and maintain these high standards of quality.

Monthly Activities

June's Learning Focus

Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: Wonderful Water and Insects and Spiders

Infants and toddlers will be exploring the wonderful world of water as the children in Discovery Preschool dig into the creepy-crawly world of insects and spiders! Infants will have the chance to practice splashing, scooping, pouring, and playing with bubbles, while toddlers will take a swim on the creative side as they paint with water and create habitats for sea animals. Children in Discovery Preschool will focus on science as they learn about the differences between insects and spiders, how caterpillars turn into butterflies, and how bees pollinate flowers and make honey. Children’s creativity will blossom as they use dried pasta to create butterfly artwork!

Children 4 to 5 years old: Staying Safe and Exploring the Arts

In this modern world, safety is never overrated—and that’s why we take the first half of June to teach children all about how to keep themselves safe in different situations and places. After that, children will delve into the arts as they learn about visual art, musical art, dancing, and acting, and discover the different types of art, music, and dance that exist around the world. Preschoolers will focus on number recognition in order to learn their phone numbers and how to call 911, the Pre-K class will examine how art concepts and techniques are used in famous works of art, and our kindergartners will collaborate on a group project together, such as making first aid kits or choreographing their own dance routine!

Our Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks - 1 year)

Babies grow and learn every day. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing "home away from home" where babies can explore and make new discoveries. We know that learning through play is extremely valuable at this age and our Early Foundations® Infant program is designed to give babies the skills that will serve as the building blocks for a lifetime of learning.

Toddler Programs (1 – 2 Years)

As toddlers develop friendships, self-esteem, and curiosity, our Early Foundations® Toddler program will help them explore their world in a safe and nurturing environment. Our unique curriculum is based on the philosophy that children learn best through experiences. So each day is filled with fun activities that excite and develop toddlers, giving them the comfort and confidence to speak those first few important words, as well as make their first friends.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2 – 3 Years)

At this age, children are making new discoveries daily. And as two-year olds begin to exert their independence, our Early Foundations® Discovery Preschool program is prepared to open their eyes to a world of learning, sharing, and exploring. Our holistic approach in the classroom engages young minds with a blend of music, art, and movement, as well as the early education fundamentals they'll need as they continue on to preschool.

Preschool Programs (3 – 4 Years)

As preschoolers gain more self-esteem, they may feel ready to take on the world. Our Early Foundations® Preschool program enhances that confidence by providing activities to help children become problem solvers and lifelong learners. Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, children will work on early literacy, math, science, and social studies concepts. A healthy dose of running, jumping, and dancing keeps them active too.

Prekindergarten Programs (4 – 5 Years)

Prekindergartners are preparing for the adventure of a lifetime – school. And our Early Foundations Prekindergarten® program is designed to get them ready by teaching letters and words, math concepts, and valuable social skills. With small group instruction, independent play in an organized atmosphere, and whole-group activities, children will have all the right skills to hop, skip, and jump right into kindergarten.

Before- & After-School Programs (5 – 12 Years)

Even after school's out for the day, children need to be engaged in a comfortable, yet stimulating environment. That's where our Catch the Wave® program comes in. This innovative before – and after-school program allows school-age children to balance learning and fun through a variety of experiences. From homework help to fun physical activities, our program is designed so that everyone goes home happy.

Summer Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Don’t miss out on KinderCare’s Summer of Wonder: Six themed programs that will make summer exciting, educational and tons of fun. Whether your child is in our preschool, Pre-K or school-age programs, all of it is designed to help children learn while soaking up the fun. We offer flexible scheduling options to meet the needs of busy families like yours so we hope to see you there.

Participating Child Care Aware Center

KinderCare has partnered with Child Care Aware® of America in an effort to offer fee assistance for Active Duty military families and solutions to their child care needs when care at a Child Development Center on the installation is not available.

Learning Adventures - Enrichment Program

Cooking

The Cooking Adventures program gives children opportunities to participate in fun, developmentally appropriate cooking experiences. They will learn about recipes, ingredients, cooking vocabulary, and the importance of a healthy diet. The curriculum includes lessons on picnics, pizza, and heart-healthy meals.

Math

The Math Adventures enrichment program is designed to teach important mathematics concepts such as geometry, numbers, measurement, and probability. Your child will learn about length, height, and weight. He will learn about shapes and solids. He will learn how to add, subtract, multiply, and count money. Math is everywhere and giving your child every advantage now will add up to success later in life.

Music

Ongoing research proves that early exposure to music helps children think, reason, create, and express themselves. Children will laugh and learn about rhythm, vocal melodies, and a variety of musical genres and instruments, which can lower stress and advance memory. Learning never sounded so good.

Phonics & Reading Adventures

Set your child up for advanced success with literacy through phonics, the study of letters and sounds. Reader books, games, and activity cards help your child understand the basics of vowels and blending syllables, giving him confidence and command of language.

Teachers & Staff

Our staff boasts over 175 years of experience in the child care field. We hire compassionate, energetic leaders to partner with you in your child's education. We are lucky enough to have males and females on staff to be role models for the children as well.

If you have a story about your experience at KinderCare, please share your story with us.

Thanks so much for making it easy to start our baby in KinderCare. The teachers have made it comfortable for my wife to go back to work after maternity leave. We know that our baby will be well taken care of. We also love the art work and pictures that we are receiving on a daily basis. It makes us know that he is loved and played with when he is in your care at the center. Thank you so much!

- Father

Our daughter came from another facility, so coming to West Cedar Rapids KinderCare was an eye opener. Since being here, our daughter’s development has amazed us. She learned sign language and excelled with her colors and words. The teachers are amazing! They listen to our concerns and suggestions with an open mind. KinderCare has opened our eyes to what our daughter was missing out on with her learning at another center.

- Parents

Before joining West Cedar Rapids KinderCare, our boys had only been cared for by in-home providers. However, after our oldest son had seen his seventh in-home provider, we decided we needed a change. That is when we joined the KinderCare family! We have been with the center for over a year now and we will never look back. The type of care they provide is over the top! Every teacher in every classroom knows our family. When we walk through the door every day, you hear “Good morning" and "Hello” coming from every direction. When our boys come home at night, they are happy and so excited to tell us about the projects they did throughout the day. When I get called one of their teachers' names at home, it doesn’t bother me. It makes me proud to know that the love and care provided goes beyond a typical 8-5 job--they treat you like family. Thank you, KinderCare, for the educational and compassionate atmosphere you deliver!

- Parents

We love West Cedar Rapids KinderCare because there are people like Sara and Melissa working there. They make you feel like you are part of a loving family that is always there for you. Every parent dreads the day they will have to bring their child to a child care provider. KinderCare staff makes that hard moment easy from the second you walk in the door. Their staff is not only well trained and educated to teach your young children, but they treat each child as if they are their own. I haven’t regretted taking my daughter to KinderCare for one second. My daughter learns numerous things on a daily basis, ranging from making stuff for me, to cooking, to learning how to write, read, and sing with her classmates, and everything in between. My daughter loves KinderCare and their staff. She wakes up on weekends wanting to go to school!

- Mother

My son is always upbeat when he comes home! I can see the impact that West Cedar Rapids KinderCare has made with his learning.

- Parent

Three years ago, my son was going to start preschool. With him being my first child, I was very nervous to have him go but knew it was going to happen eventually. My sister was working for West Cedar Rapids KinderCare at the time, so I felt more comfortable taking him somewhere with someone I knew, which made KinderCare the obvious choice. After meeting the head teacher, Melody, I felt even more comfortable with him going. She is very good with the kids and my son learned quite a bit from her! She is also very easy to talk to as a parent. Since my son started preschool, I have also taken one of my daycare kids here (last year) and my daughter is currently attending preschool at KinderCare.  Ms. Melody and Ms. Amber are amazing teachers and I would recommend anyone to come to preschool here!

- Mother

Our son is in the Infant Classroom and when we start walking through the daycare doors, he starts jumping from my arms with excitement! When I pick him up, he's a happy boy and I can tell he really enjoys himself with all the staff. We couldn't be any happier!

- Parents

We have nothing but good things to say about all the teachers who have an impact on our children each day. Since we have started at West Cedar Rapids KinderCare, our son's speech and vocabulary have increased so much. Thank you all for everything you do each and every day, for not only our kids, but everybody's kids.

- Parents

You ladies are doing a great job with my little princess. She never seems to be unhappy or cranky and is always in a good mood when I pick her up. I love how the ladies do activities with her even though she is so young. Great job, Infant Teachers!

- Mother

I think the Infant Teachers at West Cedar Rapids KinderCare do a great job of taking care of the infants. I know from experience it is a tough job, and they all do a great job!
