Hillary Clinton Visits Fairfax VA KinderCare CenterSecretary Clinton spoke with a number of parents, asking questions about how and why they chose their child-care center. She also visited with young children and spoke with KinderCare staff about a typical day for the 153 children at the center. The children at the center presented Secretary Clinton with flowers made from their handprints as a gift to thank her for her visit and for her recognition of the importance of high-quality early care and education. The Lee Highway KinderCare is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, a distinction held by only 10 percent of child-care centers nationwide. KinderCare Education, the parent company of KinderCare Learning Centers, has made a commitment to achieve accreditation for 100 percent of its early childhood education centers. As of today, more than 90 percent of its centers have achieved this distinction.

“Secretary Clinton’s visit shines the spotlight on many of the challenges working parents face and the importance of quality early childhood education,” said Tom Wyatt, CEO of KinderCare Education. “We are honored she chose to visit KinderCare. We believe all children should have access to the highest-quality early childhood education experience, regardless of background or financial circumstance, and we are proud of the diverse group of children we serve.”

Approximately one-third of KinderCare’s children are from low-income working families who receive child-care assistance. KinderCare also is the largest partner with Child Care Aware of America and the Department of Defense in providing high-quality community-based child care for America’s military families.
