During the month of July, your child will have fun exploring sand, water, or summer-related activities at our centers. Below is a sampling of some activities your child may participate in.
Infants
For infants, the theme is “Sunny Days.” Sample activities include:

Library & Language: Participating in interactive conversations and games with adults using books, puppets, and summer-related items

Motor: Coloring with chunky crayons; Taking hats on and off: Moving to songs and fingerplays

Cognitive: Searching for hidden photos; Exploring musical instruments; sorting and categorizing objects with an adult

Sensory: Exploring the textures of different types of sandpaper
Toddlers
For Toddlers, the theme is “Sand.” Sample activities include:

Library & Language: Discussing photo cards and books about summer and sand; Exploring beach-related magnets; Featured Book: Jamberry by Bruce Degen and Bear in a Square by Stella Blackstone and Debbie Harter

Creative Arts: Creating colored sand art by sprinkling colored sand onto glue-stick pictures

Sensory: Exploring sand with sand toys such as shovels, hand rakes, sifters, sand molds, and buckets

Dramatic Play: Pretending to go camping with props such as tents, sleeping bags, flashlights, and boots and singing camping songs
Discovery Preschool
For Discovery Preschool, the theme is “Water.” Sample activities include:

Library & Language Arts : Exploring water-related books and photo cards; Using words to describe the textures of flannel letters and tactile cards; Featured Book: Swimmy by Leo Lionni

Creative Arts: Creating watercolor paintings in a variety of ways such as painting at an easel, painting at a table, painting tissue paper with water, and painting with sponges

Science & Sensory: Exploring water with toys such as water wheels and watering cans; Understanding the properties of water with objects that float and sink

Dramatic Play: Role-playing and pretending at a car wash

Math & Manipulatives: Matching shapes with plastic shapes, shape picture cards, and shape sorting mats
Preschool
Preschool classrooms will follow Summer Camp curriculum. The weekly themes being explored during this month are Splish, Splash!, Feats of Science, Sports Smarts, and Art Expo. Sample activities include:
