During the month of August, your child will have fun summer-related activities at our centers. Below is a sampling of some activities your child may participate in.
Infants
For infants, the theme is “Sunny Days.” Sample activities include:

Library & Language: Participating in interactive conversations and games with adults using books, puppets, and toys

Motor: Moving to music; Practicing walking; Practicing sitting up

Cognitive: Exploring objects, colors, and sounds of “beach bottles”

Sensory: Exploring sand, Washing baby dolls
Toddlers
For Toddlers, the theme is “Emotions.” Sample activities include:

Library & Language: Exploring books about people expressing emotions, including The Way I Feel and Clap Your Hands; telling stories with picture magnets

Creative Arts: Making newspaper sculptures

Sensory: Dancing on sticky contact paper to explore the texture with feet

Dramatic Play: Pretending to go on a picnic using items such as picnic baskets and plastic food and dishes

Motor: Exercising together; Tossing balls
Discovery Preschool
For Discovery Preschool, the theme is “Sand.” Sample activities include:

Library & Language Arts: Exploring sand-related books and photo cards; Using words to describe the textures on tactile cards; Featured books: Summer by Gerda Muller and Sea, Sand, Me! by Patricia Hubbell

Preschool
Preschool classrooms will follow Summer Camp curriculum. Some weekly themes being explored during this month are Scienterrific, Spectacular Sports, and Animal Antics. Sample activities include:
