Welcome to KinderCare on Cherry Lane. We are very excited to meet with you and your family. We would love for you to visit and see our unique center. Our center is one of only two small KinderCare’s in the area. We have small classrooms that enable your child to develop a strong relationship with his/her teacher and classmates. We believe in developing the whole child with an emphasis on assisting your child's growth with their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Your child will not only have a safe, secure, and stimulating environment to learn in, but will have support from a team of child development experts who have a true passion for educating and nurturing children. Here at KinderCare on Cherry Lane, we also have a huge emphasis on bringing our families together and strengthening our relationships with one another. Relationships are critical to us. Our children know every teacher in the building and all of our teachers know all of our families. Our promise is that we will be committed to you and are proud to be a part of children’s early childhood education experience. Many of our child care centers are accredited by national organizations that require us to meet rigorous early childhood education standards and guidelines for high-quality care and education. Programs that are accredited have demonstrated their commitment to go beyond the state’s minimum licensing requirements to meet and maintain these high standards of quality.

Our Programs

Toddler Programs (1 – 2 Years)

As toddlers develop friendships, self-esteem, and curiosity, our Early Foundations® Toddler program will help them explore their world in a safe and nurturing environment. Our unique curriculum is based on the philosophy that children learn best through experiences. So each day is filled with fun activities that excite and develop toddlers, giving them the comfort and confidence to speak those first few important words, as well as make their first friends.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2 – 3 Years)

At this age, children are making new discoveries daily. And as two-year olds begin to exert their independence, our Early Foundations® Discovery Preschool program is prepared to open their eyes to a world of learning, sharing, and exploring. Our holistic approach in the classroom engages young minds with a blend of music, art, and movement, as well as the early education fundamentals they'll need as they continue on to preschool.

Preschool Programs (3 – 4 Years)

As preschoolers gain more self-esteem, they may feel ready to take on the world. Our Early Foundations® Preschool program enhances that confidence by providing activities to help children become problem solvers and lifelong learners. Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, children will work on early literacy, math, science, and social studies concepts. A healthy dose of running, jumping, and dancing keeps them active too.

Prekindergarten Programs (4 – 5 Years)

Prekindergartners are preparing for the adventure of a lifetime – school. And our Early Foundations Prekindergarten® program is designed to get them ready by teaching letters and words, math concepts, and valuable social skills. With small group instruction, independent play in an organized atmosphere, and whole-group activities, children will have all the right skills to hop, skip, and jump right into kindergarten.

Summer Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Don’t miss out on KinderCare’s Summer of Wonder: Six themed programs that will make summer exciting, educational and tons of fun. Whether your child is in our preschool, Pre-K or school-age programs, all of it is designed to help children learn while soaking up the fun. We offer flexible scheduling options to meet the needs of busy families like yours so we hope to see you there.

Participating Child Care Aware Center

KinderCare has partnered with Child Care Aware® of America in an effort to offer fee assistance for Active Duty military families and solutions to their child care needs when care at a Child Development Center on the installation is not available.

Learning Adventures - Enrichment Program

The Cooking Adventures program gives children opportunities to participate in fun, developmentally appropriate cooking experiences. They will learn about recipes, ingredients, cooking vocabulary, and the importance of a healthy diet. The curriculum includes lessons on picnics, pizza, and heart-healthy meals.

Ongoing research proves that early exposure to music helps children think, reason, create, and express themselves. Children will laugh and learn about rhythm, vocal melodies, and a variety of musical genres and instruments, which can lower stress and advance memory. Learning never sounded so good.

Phonics & Reading Adventures

Set your child up for advanced success with literacy through phonics, the study of letters and sounds. Reader books, games, and activity cards help your child understand the basics of vowels and blending syllables, giving him confidence and command of language.

Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: Light and Dark, plus the Sky and Weather

Through shadow play, experiments with flashlights, observing the Sun and more, infants and toddlers will enjoy learning about light and dark this month. Infants continue sensory development by looking at contrasting patterns and at objects that are clearly defined by sharp edges and bright colors, while toddlers will build on their understanding of the light and dark concepts with play around daytime and nighttime. The older Discovery Preschool children will turn their attention to the sky as they learn about weather, the Moon, the Sun, and stars.

Children 4–5 years old: Transportation, Healthy Bodies, and Winter

For children in the Preschool and Kindergarten classrooms, January is filled with variety! They’ll begin by learning about transportation and studying how things get from “here” to “there.” A few weeks later, the focus will shift to health and bodies, with an emphasis placed on how to make good choices for a growing body. Towards the end of the month, children will be introduced to the transformative nature of the winter season and learn how to dress and take care of themselves when it’s cold outside.

Teachers & Staff

The teachers and staff at KinderCare on Cherry Lane are passionate about educating and nurturing children. California requires teachers to have a minimum of 12 Early Childhood Education units completed before they can work in a classroom. Every member of our staff has exceeded this expectation and the educational levels throughout the center. Many of our teachers have completed Associate’s Degrees, Bachelor’s Degrees and even a Master’s Degree. The Cherry Lane team strives for excellence through continuing education from our company’s professional development trainings held twice a year to seeking additional college courses or seminars in the education field. This also includes several on-site trainings from various child-related agencies from within our community. However, at the end of the day, the true key to our teachers' success is their passion for teaching and their love of learning.

    1. December's Learning Focus

Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: Family, Friends, and Things that Go!

Infants and toddlers will be exploring family and friends, while three-year-olds will focus on things that go vroom! Social and emotional development is foundational to growth and development in babies, so this month, infants and toddlers will participate in activities that reinforce their connection to family while also exploring connections that exist outside their home, such as friends. Meanwhile, their older friends in Discovery Preschool will learn about and play around with things that move (like bicycles, cars, buses, trains, and airplanes), which are all very exciting for little ones as they continue to explore the world outside their homes.

Children 4–5 years old: My Country + Tools and Machines

The four- and five-year-olds continue exploring the world around them by learning about the state and country they live in! They’ll sings songs, play games based on travel, and learn about flags, state foods, and more. Children will also be introduced to cardinal directions (east, west, north, and south) and gain an appreciation for travel and meeting new friends from different places.

Children are naturally fascinated with machines and how things work and are put together. So to encourage that fascination, during the second half of this month children will learn about and play around with tools and machines. In addition to building literacy skills by using the names of machines and tools, children will develop math skills by graphing information, counting wheels, and more.

Health and Safety

The health and safety of your children is priority to everyone on our team. We have an on-site health and safety coordinator who works diligently to make sure all policies and procedures are followed properly to allow us to maintain superior standards and keep our children happy and healthy. Emergency disaster drills like Earthquake and Fire drills are completed monthly and each classroom keeps a daily/weekly/monthly cleaning checklist to document our sanitation efforts. Our building is secured with a coded key pad on the front door and only enrolled families and authorized guardians who pick up at the center have the code. Codes are changed every six months to ensure the safety of our children. All of our interior doors are equipped with child-proof handles and door chimes so that we are alerted anytime a door is opened. And finally, all gates on the exterior of the building have loud sounding alarms to notify us of any openings.

At KinderCare, what families say about us means a lot. Read below some of the great experiences our families have had with us.

Share Your Story
If you have a story about your experience at KinderCare, please share your story with us.

My son has been at Walnut Creek KinderCare for over a year. I work two blocks away and I pop in unannounced all the time. I have never seen anything negative - they are always happy to see me. My son LOVES the teachers and is really having a positive learning experience. He was so shy before attending this school and now he has just opened up so much. But honestly, I give them five stars because I love the teachers. They really care about each child (and each family) so much that they really feel like extended family. There is a good core group of kids, with some turnover, but the core kids all know each other and play pretty interchangeably (meaning not clique-y). The first day my son was there, he was so worried and not sure how to wash his hands and one little girl came up and showed him how everything worked. Really it was very touching.

- Mother

We always feel very supported by the wonderful teachers at the Walnut Creek KinderCare. We know our child is in loving, caring hands, and he learns and grows everyday he goes to "school". As parents we couldn't ask for anything more.

- Parents

I would like to send a big thank you to all the wonderful staff at KinderCare Cherry Lane. You are all amazing and very much appreciated. You are all fabulous and so easy to talk with, we love the regular updates and always appreciate any advice you suggest. Over the past year we have seen tremendous growth and development within our son, from increasing his vocabulary, writing, learning to use his words and sharing/playing with others... in fact the list is endless. At four years old he's like a little sponge and amazes us with talk of the fantastic things he's learnt during the day. We love the happy and friendly vibe you always provide, and of course it helps that everything is clean and orderly. As we are new to the United States, it has been reassuring to know that Joel is safe and getting the most out of each KinderCare day. Thanks for helping our son be the best that he can be!"

- Parents

Three years ago we made the decision to enroll our then eighteen month old daughter at KinderCare, Cherry Lane. After touring the facility and choosing KinderCare, we nervously dropped our daughter off on her first day with the hope and anticipation that she would be cared for, paid attention to, and most importantly, safe. Three years later, and now with our son also attending, our family has received so much more. Not only does KinderCare Cherry Lane continue to provide a safe environment for our two children, but the staff consciously builds a physical and emotional environment that is filled with love, attention, and a desire to help grow our children into individuals who have a deep-seeded joy for learning and play. As parents, daily, we see and feel the direct impact that KinderCare has on our family. We see the impact through the school-learned songs our children share at the dinner table, through watching them happily practice their letters and numbers, and through hearing their stories of playing with friends on the playground. We feel the impact through the warm hugs our children get as they greet and depart the Center each day, through the open communication we have with their teachers and directors, and through the attentiveness to the planned curriculum that is carefully executed throughout the year. As our daughter nears the start of Kindergarten (and eventually our son) we are confident that she will be walking in to her first day of school possessing the skills to confidently help her continued learning, and growth, that all began and was nurtured at KinderCare, Cherry Lane.
