Our Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks - 1 year)

Babies grow and learn every day. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing "home away from home" where babies can explore and make new discoveries. We know that learning through play is extremely valuable at this age and our Early Foundations® Infant program is designed to give babies the skills that will serve as the building blocks for a lifetime of learning.

Toddler Programs (1 – 2 Years)

As toddlers develop friendships, self-esteem, and curiosity, our Early Foundations® Toddler program will help them explore their world in a safe and nurturing environment. Our unique curriculum is based on the philosophy that children learn best through experiences. So each day is filled with fun activities that excite and develop toddlers, giving them the comfort and confidence to speak those first few important words, as well as make their first friends.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2 – 3 Years)

At this age, children are making new discoveries daily. And as two-year olds begin to exert their independence, our Early Foundations® Discovery Preschool program is prepared to open their eyes to a world of learning, sharing, and exploring. Our holistic approach in the classroom engages young minds with a blend of music, art, and movement, as well as the early education fundamentals they'll need as they continue on to preschool.

Preschool Programs (3 – 4 Years)

As preschoolers gain more self-esteem, they may feel ready to take on the world. Our Early Foundations® Preschool program enhances that confidence by providing activities to help children become problem solvers and lifelong learners. Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, children will work on early literacy, math, science, and social studies concepts. A healthy dose of running, jumping, and dancing keeps them active too.

Prekindergarten Programs (4 – 5 Years)

Prekindergartners are preparing for the adventure of a lifetime – school. And our Early Foundations Prekindergarten® program is designed to get them ready by teaching letters and words, math concepts, and valuable social skills. With small group instruction, independent play in an organized atmosphere, and whole-group activities, children will have all the right skills to hop, skip, and jump right into kindergarten.

Private Kindergarten Programs (5 – 6 Years)

As children reach school age, our comprehensive full-day kindergarten program helps them explore, communicate, and create – all in a nurturing, small-class setting. Our team of expert educators has created a unique curriculum of reading, language, arts, math, science, and physical fitness that’s presented in a fun way to encourage a lifelong love of learning. Plus, our program is aligned with local and state elementary school standards, so children will be prepared to confidently enter first grade.

Before- & After-School Programs (5 – 12 Years)

Even after school's out for the day, children need to be engaged in a comfortable, yet stimulating environment. That's where our Catch the Wave® program comes in. This innovative before – and after-school program allows school-age children to balance learning and fun through a variety of experiences. From homework help to fun physical activities, our program is designed so that everyone goes home happy.

Summer Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Don’t miss out on KinderCare’s Summer of Wonder: Six themed programs that will make summer exciting, educational and tons of fun. Whether your child is in our preschool, Pre-K or school-age programs, all of it is designed to help children learn while soaking up the fun. We offer flexible scheduling options to meet the needs of busy families like yours so we hope to see you there.

    1. January's Learning Focus

Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: Light and Dark, plus the Sky and Weather

Through shadow play, experiments with flashlights, observing the Sun and more, infants and toddlers will enjoy learning about light and dark this month. Infants continue sensory development by looking at contrasting patterns and at objects that are clearly defined by sharp edges and bright colors, while toddlers will build on their understanding of the light and dark concepts with play around daytime and nighttime. The older Discovery Preschool children will turn their attention to the sky as they learn about weather, the Moon, the Sun, and stars.

Children 4–5 years old: Transportation, Healthy Bodies, and Winter

For children in the Preschool and Kindergarten classrooms, January is filled with variety! They’ll begin by learning about transportation and studying how things get from “here” to “there.” A few weeks later, the focus will shift to health and bodies, with an emphasis placed on how to make good choices for a growing body. Towards the end of the month, children will be introduced to the transformative nature of the winter season and learn how to dress and take care of themselves when it’s cold outside.

Teachers & Staff

KinderCare teaches children life skills that go beyond reading, writing, and math. Playing with toys helps develop motor skills and teaches lessons about sharing with friends. Singing songs while washing hands instills an interest in the arts while forging social bonds and educating children about the need for good hygiene. Each activity is designed with a specific lesson or outcome in mind. We believe curriculum is everything that happens in the classroom, from interactions and meals to singing and playing.

    1. December's Learning Focus

Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: Family, Friends, and Things that Go!

Infants and toddlers will be exploring family and friends, while three-year-olds will focus on things that go vroom! Social and emotional development is foundational to growth and development in babies, so this month, infants and toddlers will participate in activities that reinforce their connection to family while also exploring connections that exist outside their home, such as friends. Meanwhile, their older friends in Discovery Preschool will learn about and play around with things that move (like bicycles, cars, buses, trains, and airplanes), which are all very exciting for little ones as they continue to explore the world outside their homes.

Children 4–5 years old: My Country + Tools and Machines

The four- and five-year-olds continue exploring the world around them by learning about the state and country they live in! They’ll sings songs, play games based on travel, and learn about flags, state foods, and more. Children will also be introduced to cardinal directions (east, west, north, and south) and gain an appreciation for travel and meeting new friends from different places.

Children are naturally fascinated with machines and how things work and are put together. So to encourage that fascination, during the second half of this month children will learn about and play around with tools and machines. In addition to building literacy skills by using the names of machines and tools, children will develop math skills by graphing information, counting wheels, and more.

Health and Safety

We take the safety of all the children in our care very seriously at our school. From daily parent and teacher sign in, to strict parent or guardian identification and single keypad access, we maintain a rigorous standard for safety so that our families can have true piece of mind.
Maintaining a healthy and clean environment is of upmost importance. Our teachers are very proud to keep their classrooms clean by using a cleaning checklist daily. After hours, we also have the support of a professional cleaning crew.
Our school has a designated person to make sure that all health and safety rules and policies are being followed. This Health and Safety Coordinator provides training and follows a monthly safety calendar to ensure that each classroom is up to date.
We ask that our families help keep all children safe and healthy by only bringing well children to school and picking up promptly if children show illness symptoms at school. We work together as a team to maintain a safe and healthy environment of all of our children. Please call our school to get more information. We look forward to hearing from you and answering any questions you may have.

At KinderCare, what families say about us means a lot. Read below some of the great experiences our families have had with us.

Share Your Story
If you have a story about your experience at KinderCare, please share your story with us.

We are the parents of Yashvi (now in 3's) and we are very satisfied sending our daughter to Vernon hills KinderCare. I would like to take some time to mention about few of them with whom I interact on a daily basis.

a) Director Sarah ROCKS. She is polite, courteous, follows up on any requests we have and updates us in a timely manner. I think her leadership is applaudable.

b) Ms. Alyssa (Asst. Director) and other Kindercare staff make our experience with KinderCare very pleasant.

c) Ms. Roxy and Ms. Simona are both AWESOME. They take good care of the kids, give me DETAILED updates everyday patiently and most of all they seem to enjoy the work which clearly reflects in their face.

d) They take pictures and preserve the craft work and share it later with me which gives us immense pleasure and happiness. Ms. Simona gave a yearbook kind of folder which had all the work which Yashvi did when she was in 2's. Wow... now that I see it as commitment to work. We miss Simona and Roxy as much as Yashvi misses them.

e) My girl loves the music classes and I am glad and appreciate the gesture of Ms. Debra where she voluntarily took in my kid for a 'test music' class if she was interested and ofcourse she was. We then enrolled her to the same.

KinderCare has gone 'Above and Beyond' to make my child's and our day to day life easier and enjoyable during her 2's stay and we look forward for the same in the 3's.

Thanks to all of you once again. Appreciate the great support.

- Father

Today I dropped my three-year-old daughter off to her Preschool class and decided to stay a few minutes. Her teacher, Ms. Brittany, showed exemplary classroom management. As a teacher myself, I find it very impressive when I see great classroom management being displayed. Students sat quietly and raised their hands waiting to be called on. Students sang songs related to the days of the week, months in a year, and seasons. Students also had to report their observations on the current weather to their teachers and peers. Needless to say I was very impressed by her engaging lesson. The students were focused on the lesson being presented and wanting to participate. Ms. Brittany is doing a fantastic job teaching my daughter and her classmates. She is a natural teacher.

- Mother

Our family has been enrolled at Vernon Hills KinderCare since February 2010. We currently have two children enrolled, our daughter is two years old and our son is nine months old. We visited several day care centers before choosing Vernon Hills KinderCare and still to this day we know we have made the right choice for our children. The teachers are very friendly and they are always attentive to our children's needs and any concerns or special requests we may have. The Director and Assistant Director are also very hands-on within all the classrooms and they have taken the time to get to know our whole family. The activities in the classrooms are both fun and educational and we have incorporated several similar ideas from day care within our own home. Our children also benefit from the emphasis on developing social skills, cognitive skills, manners, and etc. Our family considers day care to be an investment and the return on investment provided by Vernon Hills KinderCare to both of our children is priceless.

- Parent

We have been with KinderCare since our daughter was four months old. KinderCare has a wonderful staff that is friendly and treats my child like she was one of their own. KinderCare offers programs that teach your child how to read, write and do math. They also have fun programs such as cooking and working on science projects. Ms. Debra has helped our daughter prepare for Kindergarten and we are so thankful for everything she has done for our daughter. Our daughter is now seven years old and is reading books at a fifth grade level, in math enrichment classes and is in great books in school. I am very pleased with KinderCare and would recommend this facility to parents who are looking for a place that is safe, caring and nurturing.

- Parent

I am very pleased with the staff at KinderCare Vernon Hills Creekside. The Director, Sarah and Assistant Director, Alyssa, are friendly, personable and always make the center a fun and educational place for my daughter. I also appreciate how they think about the parents as well. The newsletters are informational and the breakfast/coffee is a plus.
My daughter loves going to Ms. Debra W's for cooking and music class. She is innovative and creative. My daughter raves about her classes.
Ms. Simona and Ms. Roxy - Ms. Simona made a very nice book that encompassed all the pictures she took of my daughter doing projects in her class. She even included pictures of her just having fun. It's a book that I'm ever so grateful to have. As a working mom, you miss those precious moments. My daughter loved the original songs created by Ms. Roxy. My daughter sang songs and showed our family dance moves that she learned from Ms. Roxy. Needless to say she loved the two-year-old room with these teachers.
