Welcome

Welcome to South Holland KinderCare. Our experts designed our classrooms — and every activity and lesson — to help prepare your child for success in school and beyond. With designated learning centers such as dramatic play and blocks in every classroom, children have the opportunity for rich social play and child-initiated discovery.
You’ll also find that our classrooms feature a print-rich environment full of carefully selected materials, written charts and labels, and children’s literature. By helping your child connect spoken words and print, we’re helping develop early literacy and writing skills.
Whether your child has first words or first grade on the horizon, we’re excited to show you how everything in our center is designed for learning!

Accreditation

Many of our child care centers are accredited by national organizations that require us to meet rigorous early childhood education standards and guidelines for high-quality care and education. Programs that are accredited have demonstrated their commitment to go beyond the state’s minimum licensing requirements to meet and maintain these high standards of quality.

Our Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks - 1 year)

Babies grow and learn every day. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing "home away from home" where babies can explore and make new discoveries. We know that learning through play is extremely valuable at this age and our Early Foundations® Infant program is designed to give babies the skills that will serve as the building blocks for a lifetime of learning.

Toddler Programs (1 – 2 Years)

As toddlers develop friendships, self-esteem, and curiosity, our Early Foundations® Toddler program will help them explore their world in a safe and nurturing environment. Our unique curriculum is based on the philosophy that children learn best through experiences. So each day is filled with fun activities that excite and develop toddlers, giving them the comfort and confidence to speak those first few important words, as well as make their first friends.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2 – 3 Years)

At this age, children are making new discoveries daily. And as two-year olds begin to exert their independence, our Early Foundations® Discovery Preschool program is prepared to open their eyes to a world of learning, sharing, and exploring. Our holistic approach in the classroom engages young minds with a blend of music, art, and movement, as well as the early education fundamentals they'll need as they continue on to preschool.

Preschool Programs (3 – 4 Years)

As preschoolers gain more self-esteem, they may feel ready to take on the world. Our Early Foundations® Preschool program enhances that confidence by providing activities to help children become problem solvers and lifelong learners. Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, children will work on early literacy, math, science, and social studies concepts. A healthy dose of running, jumping, and dancing keeps them active too.

Prekindergarten Programs (4 – 5 Years)

Prekindergartners are preparing for the adventure of a lifetime – school. And our Early Foundations Prekindergarten® program is designed to get them ready by teaching letters and words, math concepts, and valuable social skills. With small group instruction, independent play in an organized atmosphere, and whole-group activities, children will have all the right skills to hop, skip, and jump right into kindergarten.

Private Kindergarten Programs (5 – 6 Years)

As children reach school age, our comprehensive full-day kindergarten program helps them explore, communicate, and create – all in a nurturing, small-class setting. Our team of expert educators has created a unique curriculum of reading, language, arts, math, science, and physical fitness that’s presented in a fun way to encourage a lifelong love of learning. Plus, our program is aligned with local and state elementary school standards, so children will be prepared to confidently enter first grade.

Before- & After-School Programs (5 – 12 Years)

Even after school's out for the day, children need to be engaged in a comfortable, yet stimulating environment. That's where our Catch the Wave® program comes in. This innovative before – and after-school program allows school-age children to balance learning and fun through a variety of experiences. From homework help to fun physical activities, our program is designed so that everyone goes home happy.

Summer Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Don’t miss out on KinderCare’s Summer of Wonder: Six themed programs that will make summer exciting, educational and tons of fun. Whether your child is in our preschool, Pre-K or school-age programs, all of it is designed to help children learn while soaking up the fun. We offer flexible scheduling options to meet the needs of busy families like yours so we hope to see you there.

Learning Adventures - Enrichment Program

Music

Ongoing research proves that early exposure to music helps children think, reason, create, and express themselves. Children will laugh and learn about rhythm, vocal melodies, and a variety of musical genres and instruments, which can lower stress and advance memory. Learning never sounded so good.

Phonics & Reading Adventures

Set your child up for advanced success with literacy through phonics, the study of letters and sounds. Reader books, games, and activity cards help your child understand the basics of vowels and blending syllables, giving him confidence and command of language.

Spanish

Spanish Adventures provides young learners with a foundation for later success with the Spanish language. Music, games, children's Spanish literature, and other tools give children multiple opportunities to hear, practice, and see Spanish language for vocabulary and conversational development. Curriculum includes lessons on greetings, numbers, colors, animals, family, body parts and pets as well as how to get engage conversationally during common scenarios at home, a restaurant, or at the zoo. 1. January's Learning Focus

Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: Light and Dark, plus the Sky and Weather

Through shadow play, experiments with flashlights, observing the Sun and more, infants and toddlers will enjoy learning about light and dark this month. Infants continue sensory development by looking at contrasting patterns and at objects that are clearly defined by sharp edges and bright colors, while toddlers will build on their understanding of the light and dark concepts with play around daytime and nighttime. The older Discovery Preschool children will turn their attention to the sky as they learn about weather, the Moon, the Sun, and stars.

Children 4–5 years old: Transportation, Healthy Bodies, and Winter

For children in the Preschool and Kindergarten classrooms, January is filled with variety! They’ll begin by learning about transportation and studying how things get from “here” to “there.” A few weeks later, the focus will shift to health and bodies, with an emphasis placed on how to make good choices for a growing body. Towards the end of the month, children will be introduced to the transformative nature of the winter season and learn how to dress and take care of themselves when it’s cold outside.

  1. Thursday December 01, 2016
    1. December's Learning Focus

Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: Family, Friends, and Things that Go!

Infants and toddlers will be exploring family and friends, while three-year-olds will focus on things that go vroom! Social and emotional development is foundational to growth and development in babies, so this month, infants and toddlers will participate in activities that reinforce their connection to family while also exploring connections that exist outside their home, such as friends. Meanwhile, their older friends in Discovery Preschool will learn about and play around with things that move (like bicycles, cars, buses, trains, and airplanes), which are all very exciting for little ones as they continue to explore the world outside their homes.

Children 4–5 years old: My Country + Tools and Machines

The four- and five-year-olds continue exploring the world around them by learning about the state and country they live in! They’ll sings songs, play games based on travel, and learn about flags, state foods, and more. Children will also be introduced to cardinal directions (east, west, north, and south) and gain an appreciation for travel and meeting new friends from different places.

Children are naturally fascinated with machines and how things work and are put together. So to encourage that fascination, during the second half of this month children will learn about and play around with tools and machines. In addition to building literacy skills by using the names of machines and tools, children will develop math skills by graphing information, counting wheels, and more.

Share Your Story
If you have a story about your experience at KinderCare, please share your story with us.

I have a 2 year old son that has been in the South Holland KinderCare since he was 6 weeks old. The teachers in his classrooms were BEYOND great--he was using Sign Language before he turned 1..he knew his ABC's by the time his was 15 months old..he was FULLY potty trained before he turned 2 years old. So needless to say, the teachers, directors, and the rest of the staff are amazing. They genuinely care for the children in their center and it definitely shows! My wife and I are expecting a baby girl soon..and she WILL be attending this center (hands down)!!!

- Father

My son has attended Kindercare of South Holland since he was 6 months and he is now 3 years old. As a first time mom I was nervous about sending him to daycare and not being able to monitor him. The staff eased my nerves and they completely took my son in and treated him like family. He has learned so much and has gained so many new friends and also extended family. It is a loving and safe environment and I am able to be at peace after dropping him off every day. There is constant communication between the director, teachers and the family. The curriculum has been amazing and I am always surprised at how much my son is learning, as well as his ever-evolving social skills. My son is excited to come to school everyday to be around his teachers and friends and for that I am extremely grateful that he has a home away from home where he is safe and treated like family.

Thank you Kindercare!!

- Mother

My daughter had just turned 2 years of age and was showing signs that she needed to be in a more educational and social environment. She had been staying home with my mother while me and my husband worked outside of the home. I had checked into several places before I got to KinderCare. There was such a sigh of relief and thankfulness upon my arrival and talking with Ms. Samone. She made me feel more relaxed about the idea of having my child outside of the home while working. My daughter was placed in the Discovery Preschool room with Ms. Dacia & Ms. De'Andria!! What can I say about "Double D"! They work well together from the time my daughter was with them. Both women were always so pleasant!! The kids loved and respected them. They both had a genuine care and concern for each child in the room!! I could go on and one about these two!! I appreciated them for everything they did for my daughter. It was hard to leave. If we were not being relocated for work we would still be apart of the family at KinderCare. My daughter learned so much during the time she was there. Her thirst for knowledge and ability to retain information remains high! All the staff in the building were consistently friendly. Overall, the atmosphere was pleasant and genuine!! It's hard to find customer service at that level now a days. I appreciate it and I'm grateful for the experience!! Keep up the GREAT work!!!

- Mother

I absolutely love KinderCare in South Holland, IL. My daughter has been here since she was three years old and she loves being here. I feel that my daughter is safe and I always have a peace of mind leaving her with the care fo the staff. The center director and staff are friendly, caring, and take good care of ALL of the children in the center.  I feel that it's my daughters home away from home!  My only wish is that KinderCare offered extended school and care, so that my daughter can stay where she loves. It has been a mother's ideal home away from home for my daughter.  Thank you KinderCare for giving me a peace of mind!

- Mother

My husband and I are thrilled that our son has been chosed as the Artist of the Month for September. Our son has been attending Kindercare since he was three years old and now he is in Kindergarten.  Our son has really prospered here and now he is reading! Thank you Kindercare for the good education that our son is receiving!

- Mother

My child has attended South Holland Kindercare since Aug. 2010. I am honored to say I have no complaints. The facility is a very warm, fun, safe and secured environment. I admire many things about kindercareincluding their open door policy for parents and the daily communication.
The staff at Kindercare are all very positive, nurturing, loving, patient, professional adn experienced. Their attitudes and actions show that they genuinely care about each child. I am truly amazed by the curriculum including the additions that were added this year. There are lesson plans and activities for infants through kindergarten, including the before and after school programs. Reading , math, and writing are essentials for life, but Kindercare also includes social, emotional and various life skills needed to survive as well. The staff at Kindercare has an outstanding and creative way to allow the children to experience different things, settings and environments within their classrooms.  A Parent intrusting their child's care and education into someone elses hands in their absence is very difficult, but I am pleased to say Kindercare has given me peace of mind.
Thank you Kindercare and Staff.

- Parent

My children have attended KinderCare for many years and I absolutely love the staff, and Director and Assistant Director. My children have learned so much and we are really excited about all the great things that are happening daily in the school.

- Father

KinderCare is a fun and loving environment. The teachers are great, they take the time to explain your child's progress and developmental milestones. My daughter has been here since she was three months old. The Director Kelsy and Assistant Director Shauntell are great too!
