Welcome

Welcome to Wise Road/Schaumburg KinderCare. Our experts designed our classrooms — and every activity and lesson — to help prepare your child for success in school and beyond. With designated learning centers such as dramatic play and blocks in every classroom, children have the opportunity for rich social play and child-initiated discovery.

You’ll also find that our classrooms feature a print-rich environment full of carefully selected materials, written charts and labels, and children’s literature. By helping your child connect spoken words and print, we’re helping develop early literacy and writing skills.

Whether your child has first words or first grade on the horizon, we’re excited to show you how everything in our center is designed for learning!

Ms. Karen Maxwell, Center Director

AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited–nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference, and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

By kindergarten, our kids are testing ahead of their peers. Read all about it.

Accreditation

Many of our child care centers are accredited by national organizations that require us to meet rigorous early childhood education standards and guidelines for high-quality care and education. Programs that are accredited have demonstrated their commitment to go beyond the state’s minimum licensing requirements to meet and maintain these high standards of quality.

Monthly Activities

May's Learning Focus

Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: Colors and Shapes

Spring fills nature with vibrant colors and interesting shapes, making this the perfect month for the infants, toddlers, and children in Discovery Preschool to explore these concepts. Infants will have a blast as they smash paint in plastic bags and explore blocks with different shapes, while toddlers will practice identifying and sorting different shapes and colors before making their own color-and-shape books! Meanwhile, the children in Discovery Preschool will create rainbow artwork and continue to practice sorting, counting, and matching shapes and colors.

Children 4–5 years old: Insects and Spiders + Water

Some children might find insects and spiders a bit frightening, but this month they’ll discover how cool these tiny critters really are. Children will find out how insects create food for plants, how bees makes honey, why spiders spin webs, and more. After that, children will dive into the world of water! Preschoolers will learn about how water can take three forms (solid, liquid, and gas), children in Pre-K will learn about the importance of keeping water clean and explore the different ways people use water, and our kindergarteners will learn about different water sources and why water conservation is so important.

Our Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks - 1 year)

Babies grow and learn every day. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing "home away from home" where babies can explore and make new discoveries. We know that learning through play is extremely valuable at this age and our Early Foundations® Infant program is designed to give babies the skills that will serve as the building blocks for a lifetime of learning.

Toddler Programs (1 – 2 Years)

As toddlers develop friendships, self-esteem, and curiosity, our Early Foundations® Toddler program will help them explore their world in a safe and nurturing environment. Our unique curriculum is based on the philosophy that children learn best through experiences. So each day is filled with fun activities that excite and develop toddlers, giving them the comfort and confidence to speak those first few important words, as well as make their first friends.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2 – 3 Years)

At this age, children are making new discoveries daily. And as two-year olds begin to exert their independence, our Early Foundations® Discovery Preschool program is prepared to open their eyes to a world of learning, sharing, and exploring. Our holistic approach in the classroom engages young minds with a blend of music, art, and movement, as well as the early education fundamentals they'll need as they continue on to preschool.

Preschool Programs (3 – 4 Years)

As preschoolers gain more self-esteem, they may feel ready to take on the world. Our Early Foundations® Preschool program enhances that confidence by providing activities to help children become problem solvers and lifelong learners. Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, children will work on early literacy, math, science, and social studies concepts. A healthy dose of running, jumping, and dancing keeps them active too.

Prekindergarten Programs (4 – 5 Years)

Prekindergartners are preparing for the adventure of a lifetime – school. And our Early Foundations Prekindergarten® program is designed to get them ready by teaching letters and words, math concepts, and valuable social skills. With small group instruction, independent play in an organized atmosphere, and whole-group activities, children will have all the right skills to hop, skip, and jump right into kindergarten.

Before- & After-School Programs (5 – 12 Years)

Even after school's out for the day, children need to be engaged in a comfortable, yet stimulating environment. That's where our Catch the Wave® program comes in. This innovative before – and after-school program allows school-age children to balance learning and fun through a variety of experiences. From homework help to fun physical activities, our program is designed so that everyone goes home happy.

Summer Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Don’t miss out on KinderCare’s Summer of Wonder: Six themed programs that will make summer exciting, educational and tons of fun. Whether your child is in our preschool, Pre-K or school-age programs, all of it is designed to help children learn while soaking up the fun. We offer flexible scheduling options to meet the needs of busy families like yours so we hope to see you there.

Participating Child Care Aware Center

KinderCare has partnered with Child Care Aware® of America in an effort to offer fee assistance for Active Duty military families and solutions to their child care needs when care at a Child Development Center on the installation is not available.

Florida Voluntary Prekindergarten Programs

Learning Adventures - Enrichment Program

Cooking

The Cooking Adventures program gives children opportunities to participate in fun, developmentally appropriate cooking experiences. They will learn about recipes, ingredients, cooking vocabulary, and the importance of a healthy diet. The curriculum includes lessons on picnics, pizza, and heart-healthy meals.

Music

Ongoing research proves that early exposure to music helps children think, reason, create, and express themselves. Children will laugh and learn about rhythm, vocal melodies, and a variety of musical genres and instruments, which can lower stress and advance memory. Learning never sounded so good.

Phonics & Reading Adventures

Set your child up for advanced success with literacy through phonics, the study of letters and sounds. Reader books, games, and activity cards help your child understand the basics of vowels and blending syllables, giving him confidence and command of language.

Science

Teachers & Staff

Welcome to our KinderCare family at the Wise Road location. We are thrilled that you have joined our school and entrust us to provide the utmost care and education for your child to grow into wonderful young people. We encourage you to let us know how we can best assist you with your needs. We are always available to meet with you and even have conferences in late Fall and late Spring to let you know how your child is developing in our program. We love getting feedback to help us grow together.

Our faculty are dedicated and passionate about education and caring for children. They encourage self help skills, manners, etiquette, education, reading, handwriting, science, dramatic play, math and more, all in a safe, fun and educational experience. Our curriculum is specifically geared from Infancy through School Age groups. Each one is developmentally appropriate but yet allows each child to grow beyond their expectations. We provide an educational curriculum to meet the needs of each child and age group and prepare them for school and beyond. We teach them life skills through our daily routines and play.

"Play" is the time each child needs to expand their minds, grow their skills and explore their world. Play is essential to learning. Our approach to teaching through positive reinforcement and redirection. We want to let children know what we "want" from them rather than reminding them of all the "no's" in the world. Children thrive with positive reinforcement and want to learn more then.

Our school has been NAC Accredited since July 2016. The National Accreditation Commission (NAC) for Early Care and Education Program offers early childhood leaders the opportunity to demonstrate and document quality performance using research-based criteria and evidence-based practices. The National Accreditation Commission provides a comprehensive, ongoing quality improvement system that recognizes the inherent diversity among programs through the self-study and award process.

Our school also received the Gold Circle of Quality from ExeleRate Illinois administered through INCRAA in March 2017.

We service to several local Elementary Schools near our school location for Before and After care as well as care for days off of school which allows time for Kindergarten through 6th grade children to get homework done, relax and expend their energies on the playground as well as participate in our newly revamp School Age Curriculum.

We also offer a fun and exciting Summer Curriculum that allows our School-Age children to go on field trips and our younger children to have in-house field experience with special guests along with creative exploration with our Summer Camp Themes and Water Play Days. Education and learning never stops.

Our faculty participates in 100 Days of on boarding training when first hired and a minimum of 20 hours of Professional Development training annually through Gateway approved trainings, KinderCare Professional Development Days and other programs to continue their own personal, educational success and further their educational horizons. We require all of our faculty to be CPR and First Aid trained within 6 months of hire and maintain their certification ongoing. All of our faculty also are required to have their Food Handler Certification to work in our facility. On going training is essential for our faculty to remain on the top of the educational pendulum and provide the care that each of our families expect.

Again, thank you for joining our KinderCare family.

Life take us to unexpected places...Love is what brings us home.

Ms. Karen began her career at KinderCare with a Kid's Choice (School Age and Kindergarten only facility) in 1988 in Streamwood. She was also the Director at the Wise Rd. Schaumburg and Hanover Park KinderCare locations. During those years she was also a Team Leader, Mentor for Director Training, chosen to be on the Focus Group for Gallup Poll and she earned Director of the Year Award as well. She left the field in 2003 for family reasons and later realized that her true passion was with young children and developing her staff. She returned to the field in 2010 as a Director of Operations at another Early Childhood School but returned to KinderCare in February 2017. She raised two children, both of which are now adults. Her daughter is pursuing a career working with animals and her son is currently serving in the Navy. She also has three dogs and one cat who are her "furry kids" now. Ms. Karen gets very excited watching the growth and development of the children in her schools and enjoys being a part of providing quality care and education that her parents expect. She has found that she is a great resource to her families. She seeks tools that help young families in their child's education and home life. She has often been asked if she could provide Parenting Classes due to her experience and knowledge.

Ms. Karen feels very strongly that building a foundation with each of her families and faculty provides the best opportunities for them for their futures and success. She has built strong, long term relationships throughout her schools and with former students, families and faculty. She prides herself in building and maintaining these relationships as a key to each family's growth. Her belief is that every child, no matter how old, their cultural or economic situation, deserves to be treated with ultimate care and positive direction to fulfill their desire to learn, to grow and to achieve.

Please find alternative care for your children on the following days for center closures-- New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, President's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Columbus Day and Christmas Day.  Two of these days are Professional Development Days for the staff that give educators an opportunity to learn and discuss new ideas in their career field to better their classrooms for the children.

Health and Safety

At KinderCare Learning Centers, your child’s health and safety is one of our top priorities. This topic contains many facets. To list a few:

We have a security door at the entrance that is key padded and any visitors must provide a valid photo ID to pick up children. All children must be signed in /out and visitors must log in.

Our faculty are trained in CPR and 1st Aid and we conduct regular drill for Fire, Tornado and Soft Lock Downs to ensure that we are well prepared in case of an emergency.

Our school follows strict guidelines in our Wellness / Illness Policy to ensure our children remain as illness free as possible. We teach proper hand washing procedures for our faculty and our children to follow.

We have daily and monthly playground and building safety inspections to make sure our facility is safe and maintained. We have finger guards on our doors to prevent little fingers from getting injured.

We also have a nurse consultant visit our school monthly to ensure we follow proper procedures, check children’s file for immunizations / physicals and many other items.

All these and more are in place to keep your child in a safe and nurturing environment where they can learn.

At KinderCare, what families say about us means a lot. Read below some of the great experiences our families have had with us.
