Many of our child care centers are accredited by national organizations that require us to meet rigorous early childhood education standards and guidelines for high-quality care and education. Programs that are accredited have demonstrated their commitment to go beyond the state’s minimum licensing requirements to meet and maintain these high standards of quality.
Babies grow and learn every day. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing "home away from home" where babies can explore and make new discoveries. We know that learning through play is extremely valuable at this age and our Early Foundations® Infant program is designed to give babies the skills that will serve as the building blocks for a lifetime of learning.
As toddlers develop friendships, self-esteem, and curiosity, our Early Foundations® Toddler program will help them explore their world in a safe and nurturing environment. Our unique curriculum is based on the philosophy that children learn best through experiences. So each day is filled with fun activities that excite and develop toddlers, giving them the comfort and confidence to speak those first few important words, as well as make their first friends.
At this age, children are making new discoveries daily. And as two-year olds begin to exert their independence, our Early Foundations® Discovery Preschool program is prepared to open their eyes to a world of learning, sharing, and exploring. Our holistic approach in the classroom engages young minds with a blend of music, art, and movement, as well as the early education fundamentals they'll need as they continue on to preschool.
As preschoolers gain more self-esteem, they may feel ready to take on the world. Our Early Foundations® Preschool program enhances that confidence by providing activities to help children become problem solvers and lifelong learners. Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, children will work on early literacy, math, science, and social studies concepts. A healthy dose of running, jumping, and dancing keeps them active too.
Prekindergartners are preparing for the adventure of a lifetime – school. And our Early Foundations Prekindergarten® program is designed to get them ready by teaching letters and words, math concepts, and valuable social skills. With small group instruction, independent play in an organized atmosphere, and whole-group activities, children will have all the right skills to hop, skip, and jump right into kindergarten.
Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: Light and Dark, plus the Sky and Weather
Through shadow play, experiments with flashlights, observing the Sun and more, infants and toddlers will enjoy learning about light and dark this month. Infants continue sensory development by looking at contrasting patterns and at objects that are clearly defined by sharp edges and bright colors, while toddlers will build on their understanding of the light and dark concepts with play around daytime and nighttime. The older Discovery Preschool children will turn their attention to the sky as they learn about weather, the Moon, the Sun, and stars.
Children 4–5 years old: Transportation, Healthy Bodies, and Winter
For children in the Preschool and Kindergarten classrooms, January is filled with variety! They’ll begin by learning about transportation and studying how things get from “here” to “there.” A few weeks later, the focus will shift to health and bodies, with an emphasis placed on how to make good choices for a growing body. Towards the end of the month, children will be introduced to the transformative nature of the winter season and learn how to dress and take care of themselves when it’s cold outside.

My memories of my childhood include being with younger children. From being one of six children to starting to babysit at the age of 10, to being a nanny during my college years; my life experiences always involved my desire to be around younger children. My three children have asked me in the past, "Mom, why didn't you have more children?" I reply, "I did. They are at my KinderCare home."
A hundred years form now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove, but the world my be different because I was important in the life of a child.
My two daughters are my pride, joy and continue to make my heart dance. My oldest daughter has begun her journey following in my footsteps by entering the Elementary Education program in Duluth. My youngest daughter is entering her first year in highschool. People are often surprised to learn that I am an avid bow hunter and truly enjoy fishing. My true love in life though, is my experience here at KinderCare Learning Center. When a child places their hand in my hand, and smiles up at me, I know that I am creating footsteps for other children to follow in also.
The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.
My hard working ethic comes from working on a beef and dairy farm in Chatfield. I thought my career was to be a CNA, but after a few years, learned that I really have the calling to be an Infant teacher. I enjoy watching these little friends develop and grow into amazing bigger, little people. My family has always been there for me and encouraged me to seek out a position at KinderCare Learning Center. I have been here for over a year and love my babies.
What I love most seeing children's smiles everyday.
Shamso is our assistant teacher in the Infant room. She loves interacting with the children and is watching them grow.
It's always a new experience, a new day, in the life of a child.
In 2000 Bonnie joined KinderCare team in Orlando, Fl. In October 2014 Bonnie and her husband moved Rochester, MN and was able to transfer to our center. Bonnie is inspired to know that she can make a difference in the life of a child.
Today you are you; that is truer than true! There's no one alive that is you'er then you! Dr. Suess
Jenae is from Blue Earth, but calls Rochester her home. Her loves spending time with her family which includes 2 neices and 2 nephews. These four little people in her life have directed her to spend more time with children in a learning environment. Jenae looks forward to joining Ms. Bonnie as a Pre-K teacher and another year of learning.
Be the change you want to see in the world
My daughter and I joined the KinderCare Learning Center team almost a year ago and we love it here. As a Preschool teacher, I see each and everyday as an opportunity to teach, enhance and make great changes in the children's lifes.
Don't forget to smile
When I was young, I always played "school" with my little brother and friends. Younger children have always had a soft spot in my heart and since I started working here at KinderCare Learning Center, that soft spot has grown immensely. I am currently working toward my Associated in Science while I continue my journey as a toddler teacher here in the toddler room. I am very excited to say that I just completed my first year at KinderCare and have enjoyed every minute of it.
If you stumble, make it a part of the dance
My passion for working with younger children is as great as my passion for dogs. Anyone that knows me well, knows this is a huge statement that is evident of my true enjoyment with toddler aged children. I look forward to coming to work and seeing the cute little smiles and voices of my little friends that say, "Good morning, Miss Cait!" It makes the world a better place when there are that many smiles in it.
A teacher's job is not only to educate kids in book and school skills, but also to guide children towards finding their own beat and reaching their potential.
Kelsi is our lead teacher in our toddler room. she has been with us since November of 2014. Kelsi is inspired by the laughter, smiles and proud looks of the accomplishments of the children.
What inspires me to come to work is being able to see each child grow and the hugs I get from them.
Ms. Katelyn is an assistant in our Infant classroom. She enjoys the day to day changes that infants make as they grow.
I love having the opportunity to help build a child's educational foundation because they are our future citizens.
Darla started with us in the infant classroom as an assissant teacher. Currently, she works in the preschool programs in the afternoons as a float teacher. Darla loves the joy of providing a fun, safe, learning environment for her students. She also loves having a great team to work with.
Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: Family, Friends, and Things that Go!
Infants and toddlers will be exploring family and friends, while three-year-olds will focus on things that go vroom! Social and emotional development is foundational to growth and development in babies, so this month, infants and toddlers will participate in activities that reinforce their connection to family while also exploring connections that exist outside their home, such as friends. Meanwhile, their older friends in Discovery Preschool will learn about and play around with things that move (like bicycles, cars, buses, trains, and airplanes), which are all very exciting for little ones as they continue to explore the world outside their homes.
Children 4–5 years old: My Country + Tools and Machines
The four- and five-year-olds continue exploring the world around them by learning about the state and country they live in! They’ll sings songs, play games based on travel, and learn about flags, state foods, and more. Children will also be introduced to cardinal directions (east, west, north, and south) and gain an appreciation for travel and meeting new friends from different places.
Children are naturally fascinated with machines and how things work and are put together. So to encourage that fascination, during the second half of this month children will learn about and play around with tools and machines. In addition to building literacy skills by using the names of machines and tools, children will develop math skills by graphing information, counting wheels, and more.
