Welcome

Welcome to Knowledge Beginnings of Raleigh-Wakefield! Our school has been caring for our community for over 15 years.  We thank you for the opportunity to teach, nurture and care for your child(ren) each and every day.  You and your family are a very important part of Knowledge Beginnings. Our Nationally Accredited school is designed to be a home away from home for children where they can learn, laugh, grow and have fun. With designated learning centers in every classroom, children have the opportunity for rich social play and child-initiated discovery.
We believe the most powerful learning comes from a self-discovery process that actively engages a child's critical thinking skills. Children are natural learners who flourish in a responsive environment centered on respect, creativity, and joy. We promote an environment that encourages indpendence and allows children the freedom needed to become capable and confident individuals.
Your child will not only have a safe, secure, and stimulating environment to learn in, but will have support from a team of early childhood educators who have a true passion for educating and nuturing children. Teaching is at the heart of everything we do and we look foward to showing you everything our school has to offer.

Accreditation

Many of our child care centers are accredited by national organizations that require us to meet rigorous early childhood education standards and guidelines for high-quality care and education. Programs that are accredited have demonstrated their commitment to go beyond the state’s minimum licensing requirements to meet and maintain these high standards of quality.

Our Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks - 1 year)

Babies grow and learn every day. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing "home away from home" where babies can explore and make new discoveries. We know that learning through play is extremely valuable at this age and our Early Foundations® Infant program is designed to give babies the skills that will serve as the building blocks for a lifetime of learning.

Toddler Programs (1 – 2 Years)

As toddlers develop friendships, self-esteem, and curiosity, our Early Foundations® Toddler program will help them explore their world in a safe and nurturing environment. Our unique curriculum is based on the philosophy that children learn best through experiences. So each day is filled with fun activities that excite and develop toddlers, giving them the comfort and confidence to speak those first few important words, as well as make their first friends.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2 – 3 Years)

At this age, children are making new discoveries daily. And as two-year olds begin to exert their independence, our Early Foundations® Discovery Preschool program is prepared to open their eyes to a world of learning, sharing, and exploring. Our holistic approach in the classroom engages young minds with a blend of music, art, and movement, as well as the early education fundamentals they'll need as they continue on to preschool.

Preschool Programs (3 – 4 Years)

As preschoolers gain more self-esteem, they may feel ready to take on the world. Our Early Foundations® Preschool program enhances that confidence by providing activities to help children become problem solvers and lifelong learners. Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, children will work on early literacy, math, science, and social studies concepts. A healthy dose of running, jumping, and dancing keeps them active too.

Prekindergarten Programs (4 – 5 Years)

Prekindergartners are preparing for the adventure of a lifetime – school. And our Early Foundations Prekindergarten® program is designed to get them ready by teaching letters and words, math concepts, and valuable social skills. With small group instruction, independent play in an organized atmosphere, and whole-group activities, children will have all the right skills to hop, skip, and jump right into kindergarten.

Before- & After-School Programs (5 – 12 Years)

Even after school's out for the day, children need to be engaged in a comfortable, yet stimulating environment. That's where our Catch the Wave® program comes in. This innovative before – and after-school program allows school-age children to balance learning and fun through a variety of experiences. From homework help to fun physical activities, our program is designed so that everyone goes home happy.

Interactive Kindergarten (5 - 6 Years)

A full-day interactive Kindergarten program that utilizes new curriculum with an interactive smart board making first grade readiness a priority.

Summer Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Don’t miss out on KinderCare’s Summer of Wonder: Six themed programs that will make summer exciting, educational and tons of fun. Whether your child is in our preschool, Pre-K or school-age programs, all of it is designed to help children learn while soaking up the fun. We offer flexible scheduling options to meet the needs of busy families like yours so we hope to see you there.

Participating Child Care Aware Center

KinderCare has partnered with Child Care Aware® of America in an effort to offer fee assistance for Active Duty military families and solutions to their child care needs when care at a Child Development Center on the installation is not available.

Learning Adventures - Enrichment Program

Math

The Math Adventures enrichment program is designed to teach important mathematics concepts such as geometry, numbers, measurement, and probability. Your child will learn about length, height, and weight. He will learn about shapes and solids. He will learn how to add, subtract, multiply, and count money. Math is everywhere and giving your child every advantage now will add up to success later in life.

Music

Ongoing research proves that early exposure to music helps children think, reason, create, and express themselves. Children will laugh and learn about rhythm, vocal melodies, and a variety of musical genres and instruments, which can lower stress and advance memory. Learning never sounded so good.

Phonics & Reading Adventures

Set your child up for advanced success with literacy through phonics, the study of letters and sounds. Reader books, games, and activity cards help your child understand the basics of vowels and blending syllables, giving him confidence and command of language.

Teachers & Staff

At Knowledge Beginnings Wakefield we work together, learn together, aspire together and laugh together. We gain strength from each other, help each other and most of all empower each other … all of that with one common goal - to make our school the best educational environment for children.

Upon entering our building we have a keypad entry system, in which each of our enrolled families have their own individual entry code to enter the building. Once inside we have an open door policy for our families, where they are welcome to spend the day with their child or simply watch from the cameras in each classroom from the lobby. Outside the building we have five different fenced playscapes with an adult length latch to open the gate. Our school is a nut free school. Our staff is CPR, First Aid, and SIDS certified.

At KinderCare, what families say about us means a lot. Read below some of the great experiences our families have had with us.

If you have a story about your experience at KinderCare, please share your story with us.

Alex started school at Knowledge Beginnings when he was two years old. He didn't speak English at all. Initially he was very shy and didn't understand much, but wanted to learn. The teachers were caring and helped him a lot to be comfortable in an English speaking environment. He absorbed as much information as he could. Later on, he started saying a few words in English and a few months later he said simple sentences. I was very proud of him when he greeted his teachers, and Ms Anneke in English or when I heard him talk to his friends in English. We enrolled him to Phonics class, which gave him an additional boost to his language learning experience. We found Kindermusik useful too. Learning the language through music is an excellent way to speed up the learning process. We got to the point when Alex corrects me when I do not pronounce a word properly in English. I do not think I would have been able to teach Alex English without the help of the teachers at Knowledge Beginnings and I am grateful for the positive experience he received there forever.

- Parent

My family has been a member of the Knowledge Beginning community since 2011. My son started there in the preschool classroom. Transferring from KinderCare we were familiar with the curriculum which made for an easy transition. Our experience at Knowledge Beginnings has been absolutely wonderful.  The teachers and staff have nurtured and challenged my son academically and socially.  He has been exposed to a variety of creative and engaging learning activities. Both he and I are greeted each day by the administrative staff. They know us by name. The teachers and the administrative staff have shown a genuine interest in my family’s well being. The facility is well-maintained and conducive to a learning atmosphere. The extra activities that they offer are well designed and beneficial. My son has participated in Active Adventures, Phonics and Music. He is leaving Knowledge Beginnings to enter Elementary school ready to meet to the academic, social and behavioral expectations. We will miss our Knowledge Beginnings’ family.

- Parent

My daughter has been a student at Knowledge Beginnings in Raleigh for almost three years now and she loves it! Sometimes it is hard to get her to come home! :) They have great part time schedules which is hard to find but really the best part about Knowledge Beginnings is the staff. Everyone there KNOWS your child which is so important. This is one of the most important decisions you make as a parent and I can go to work each day without worrying about her care. Not only is she having fun but is learning so much and I feel her time at Knowledge Beginnings is really going to prepare her for elementary school. And as an only child, the socialization she is getting is key. They do an excellent job of educating while having fun!

- Mother

I am thrilled with the Knowledge Beginning school in Raleigh, headed by director, Anneke Dickerman. Several years ago, my husband and I were looking for a preschool/full-time daycare for my two young children. We toured many facilities in the area but Knowledge Beginnings was hands down a clear winner. Anneke took a great deal of time with us and we were sold on the professional teachers, water park, warm environment, discovery rooms, and strong emphasis on curriculum. My two children have attended Knowledge Beginnings for the last four years, and we could not be more impressed. Every day when we walk in, we are greeted in the most pleasant, positive way from the staff. Anneke and team know every child/parents’ names and we feel extremely welcomed each day both at the front desk and as we enter the classrooms. At the end of the day, both the director and assistant know exactly what has happened in all of the classrooms. Anneke often says “Tessa just got up from her nap and is in centers.” I don’t know how she has her finger on the pulse of every child but she does! We are also extremely impressed with the teaching staff at Knowledge Beginnings. I am an elementary school teacher in the neighborhood so I know the demands placed on children starting at a young age. My son was well advanced when he began kindergarten because of the curriculum he was exposed to in the Transitional Kindergarten class. In fact, he entered Kindergarten reading a 5-6 level, which is the end of Kindergarten! I credit this solely to the staff at Knowledge Beginnings and their intense emphasis on literacy/mathematical instruction. Knowledge Beginning is not a daycare; it’s equivalent to a high end, private preschool. They do not have paid staff, they employ true teachers. Both my children thrived under the care of warm, loving, and talented teachers. Anneke and her staff go above and beyond expectations including making special vegetarian meals and accommodating my flexible track out schedule. I do not know of any other school that would work with children constantly tracking in/out and adjust their rates accordingly. Additionally, Anneke and team are consistently doing “extras” such as lavish graduation ceremonies, cookies with Santa, open houses, winter productions, book fairs, and family events throughout the year. Knowledge Beginnings in Raleigh is truly have a one-of-a-kind preschool staffed with the best of the best. My children feel loved, safe, and are learning more than I could have ever imagined. My husband and I feel appreciated and that we matter to Knowledge Beginnings family. I tell others in the community that Knowledge Beginnings has truly changed our lives.
