AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited–nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference, and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

SCHOOL-READY

Our kids are taking off!

By kindergarten, our kids are testing ahead of their peers. Read all about it.

Accreditation

Many of our child care centers are accredited by national organizations that require us to meet rigorous early childhood education standards and guidelines for high-quality care and education. Programs that are accredited have demonstrated their commitment to go beyond the state’s minimum licensing requirements to meet and maintain these high standards of quality.

Monthly Activities

July's Learning Focus

Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: What’s the Weather and Wonderful Water
This month we go all natural as infants and toddlers are introduced to the weather and children in Discovery Preschool experiment and have fun with water. Sensory adventures will continue for infants as they explore playing with colored water and experiment with how pinwheels and scarves move in the wind. Meanwhile, toddlers will use musical instruments to create the sound of rain and will connect their learning to the world as they role-play different weather scenarios, such as a warm summer day at the beach and a cold, snowy winter day. In Discovery Preschool, children will be learning about different bodies of water as well as how people use water in their everyday lives.

Children 4 to 5 years old: Spectacular Science and All About Books
In the first two weeks of this month, we take older children on a scientific journey of discovery to learn more about the natural world before turning the focus to the amazing world of books! Preschoolers will learn about states of matter, force, motion, and magnetism; children in Pre-K will learn about natural formations like rivers, mountains, and deserts; and kindergarteners will discover the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling. When we turn to books, children will learn about the different parts of books, explore the roles of author and illustrator, and learn what makes a book fiction or nonfiction.

November's Learning Focus

Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: Foods and Flavors
This month infants, toddlers, and the little ones in Discovery Preschool will be exploring foods and flavors! It’s never too early to expose children to healthy food—even babies who aren’t eating solids yet. All children will explore, read about, play with, and create around different foods, but each age group will have a different focus. Infants will practice sensory exploration and create their own pretend soup, toddlers will count and measure food items, and the children in Discovery Preschool will learn about the different food groups—including a pretend farmers market.

Children 4–5 years old: Farms and Community
The older children will focus on learning first about farms, and then their community! Farms are filled with so many science- and social science-based learning opportunities for children. Children will learn all about barns and farming equipment, which animals are raised on a farm, and which crops are grown. They’ll also focus on their own communities and learn all about the different kinds of places that exist, the people who live there, and the jobs that those people do.

December's Learning Focus

Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: Family, Friends, and Things that Go!
Infants and toddlers will be exploring family and friends, while three-year-olds will focus on things that go vroom! Social and emotional development is foundational to growth and development in babies, so this month, infants and toddlers will participate in activities that reinforce their connection to family while also exploring connections that exist outside their home, such as friends. Meanwhile, their older friends in Discovery Preschool will learn about and play around with things that move (like bicycles, cars, buses, trains, and airplanes), which are all very exciting for little ones as they continue to explore the world outside their homes.

Children 4–5 years old: My Country + Tools and Machines
The four- and five-year-olds continue exploring the world around them by learning about the state and country they live in! They’ll sings songs, play games based on travel, and learn about flags, state foods, and more. Children will also be introduced to cardinal directions (east, west, north, and south) and gain an appreciation for travel and meeting new friends from different places. Children are naturally fascinated with machines and how things work and are put together. So to encourage that fascination, during the second half of this month children will learn about and play around with tools and machines. In addition to building literacy skills by using the names of machines and tools, children will develop math skills by graphing information, counting wheels, and more.

Our Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks - 1 year)

Babies grow and learn every day. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing "home away from home" where babies can explore and make new discoveries. We know that learning through play is extremely valuable at this age and our Early Foundations® Infant program is designed to give babies the skills that will serve as the building blocks for a lifetime of learning.

Toddler Programs (1 – 2 Years)

As toddlers develop friendships, self-esteem, and curiosity, our Early Foundations® Toddler program will help them explore their world in a safe and nurturing environment. Our unique curriculum is based on the philosophy that children learn best through experiences. So each day is filled with fun activities that excite and develop toddlers, giving them the comfort and confidence to speak those first few important words, as well as make their first friends.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2 – 3 Years)

At this age, children are making new discoveries daily. And as two-year olds begin to exert their independence, our Early Foundations® Discovery Preschool program is prepared to open their eyes to a world of learning, sharing, and exploring. Our holistic approach in the classroom engages young minds with a blend of music, art, and movement, as well as the early education fundamentals they'll need as they continue on to preschool.

Preschool Programs (3 – 4 Years)

As preschoolers gain more self-esteem, they may feel ready to take on the world. Our Early Foundations® Preschool program enhances that confidence by providing activities to help children become problem solvers and lifelong learners. Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, children will work on early literacy, math, science, and social studies concepts. A healthy dose of running, jumping, and dancing keeps them active too.

Prekindergarten Programs (4 – 5 Years)

Prekindergartners are preparing for the adventure of a lifetime – school. And our Early Foundations Prekindergarten® program is designed to get them ready by teaching letters and words, math concepts, and valuable social skills. With small group instruction, independent play in an organized atmosphere, and whole-group activities, children will have all the right skills to hop, skip, and jump right into kindergarten.

Before- & After-School Programs (5 – 12 Years)

Even after school's out for the day, children need to be engaged in a comfortable, yet stimulating environment. That's where our Catch the Wave® program comes in. This innovative before – and after-school program allows school-age children to balance learning and fun through a variety of experiences. From homework help to fun physical activities, our program is designed so that everyone goes home happy.

Summer Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Don’t miss out on KinderCare’s Summer of Wonder: Six themed programs that will make summer exciting, educational and tons of fun. Whether your child is in our preschool, Pre-K or school-age programs, all of it is designed to help children learn while soaking up the fun. We offer flexible scheduling options to meet the needs of busy families like yours so we hope to see you there.

Participating Child Care Aware Center

KinderCare has partnered with Child Care Aware® of America in an effort to offer fee assistance for Active Duty military families and solutions to their child care needs when care at a Child Development Center on the installation is not available.

Learning Adventures - Enrichment Program

Cooking

The Cooking Adventures program gives children opportunities to participate in fun, developmentally appropriate cooking experiences. They will learn about recipes, ingredients, cooking vocabulary, and the importance of a healthy diet. The curriculum includes lessons on picnics, pizza, and heart-healthy meals.

Math

The Math Adventures enrichment program is designed to teach important mathematics concepts such as geometry, numbers, measurement, and probability. Your child will learn about length, height, and weight. He will learn about shapes and solids. He will learn how to add, subtract, multiply, and count money. Math is everywhere and giving your child every advantage now will add up to success later in life.

Music

Ongoing research proves that early exposure to music helps children think, reason, create, and express themselves. Children will laugh and learn about rhythm, vocal melodies, and a variety of musical genres and instruments, which can lower stress and advance memory. Learning never sounded so good.

Phonics & Reading Adventures

Set your child up for advanced success with literacy through phonics, the study of letters and sounds. Reader books, games, and activity cards help your child understand the basics of vowels and blending syllables, giving him confidence and command of language.

Teachers & Staff

Welcome to the Kirkwood KinderCare Learning Center, the premier early childhood learning center. We provide a high-quality educational environment to your child through enriched daily activities, safe classroom environments, and quality staff members. As a staff, we are dedicated to both the education and the safety of your child. If you at any point have any questions for us, feel free to stop in the office, call, or email with the contact information provided. We feel privileged and honored that you are considering our establishment for your child.

There are so many teachers I want to thank for their help! I'll start with Ms. Sarah. They have been so supportive and understanding of my son. They know all of the children in their class as individuals, which is very impressive with the number of children in their class! I've noticed this with all the teachers and staff as well. My child's speech has improved greatly since coming to Ms. Sarah's class. My child also seems to have a great bond with Ms. Karlee. Thanks to you all. I could imagine my child being at any other daycare!

We love Ms. Melissa! You can really tell she loves these children so much. Her creative activities with the babies and proactive communication with the parents has been off-the-charts fantastic.

I love the pics! We hang them in our son's bedroom. My morning starts with beautiful smiles and friendly voices! My son knows what to expect... consistent, high-quality care! Thank you! The five-year-old room rocks!

- Mother

They tell me funny stories from my son's day. They get as excited as I do when my ten-month-old does new things, which he seems to do every day! They are still excited to see my older kids, even though they are KinderCare graduates now!

- Mother

My child has been with Ms. Sam for a while now. She is awesome because she truly loves our child. It makes us feel great to drop him off every day and know he will be in the care of such a great person.

- Parent

Ms. Kristen, we love your enthusiasm and thank you for your patience. Our child is learning so much! As I leave every day, everyone says something to my child, whether it's good-bye, a little story, or just a smile. It is obvious that everyone at Kirkwood KinderCare really loves every child. Thank you.

Ms. Darcy is awesome because she's super organized and prepares our kids so well for kindergarten! Ms. Debra is awesome because she is so caring and loves the kids!

- Mother

Ms. Kelly is awesome because when my child is feeling shy when I drop her off in the morning, Ms. Kelly is always ready with a big hug to make her feel better. Drop-off can be so stressful, but Ms. Kelly helps make it easy! Ms. Kelli is awesome because she is so engaged with the children. She treats them with respect and sincerity and I know my child responded to that--she loved Ms. Kelli immediately! Both "Kelly/ies" have helped make my child's transition to KinderCare really smooth, and I'm so happy with the way things are going--and my child seems pretty happy too!

- Mother

Ms. Samantha is awesome because she makes my child love school and want to learn! Ms. Jessica is awesome because she teaches special subjects and makes them fun for kids. Ms. Darcy is awesome because she really trains the kids well for kindergarten. My child is advanced and breezing through his assignments now!

- Mother

Ms. Darcy and Ms. Deborah, I would like to say thank you so much for preparing my child for kindergarten. His success in kindergarten is all because of the dedication you have for those prekindergarten children! He is in the top tier of readers in his kindergarten class because of the wonderful teaching you gave him.
