Miss. Joan began her teaching career when she received her Early Childhood Education degree from Harper. She quickly found a job in the field and worked her way up from assistant teacher to director of that school. When her son was born she took a break to be at home with hm, but when he started kindergarten she went back to work. She knew she could have a greatest impact on children by working in the classroom rather than as office, so when she returned to work it was to the Preschool room, where she spent 22 of her first 24 years with Kindercare. She strives to always do the best for the children in her care, not only to teach them but also to support and encourage them. Her efforts have not gone unnoticed; Miss Joan has earned the Pride award and was the only teacher in her district to earn the inaugural Excellence of Teaching award.
