Our staff would like to welcome you to visit our center. The staff takes in pride in keeping up to date with the latest trends in Early Childhood Education. Ongoing training is offered to the staff during the year at the center and through the various training opportunities in the community.
Shawna has had the privilege of opening the Knowledge Beginnings in Hillsboro and has experienced many opportunities in the company working as a Kindergarten teacher, Assistant Director and Director of another center. Shawna was excited to be returning to Knowledge Beginnings as the Director in 2009. Her experience in the Army allowed her to live around the world and appreciate various cultures. She has worked with children for over 18 years and received her Associates in Early Childhood Education and is continuing to further her education. What she enjoys most about her job is building relationships with children and families.

Kristen has had the honor to be a research and teacher's assistant for a doctorate professor in Human Development. She has worked in an office environment for the past ten years and with children for the past six years. In her free time, Kristen enjoys keeping a healthy lifestyle through food and exercise. She enjoys spending her free time with her family and friends. Kristen loves being outdoors, camping, hiking, and horseback riding.
Kristen worked for the Washington State University of Vancouver's Child Development Program before joining Knowledge Universe.

Ms. Noemi had previously worked for KinderCare before joining Knowledge Beginnings. She has been a part of our team since August of 2012. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, reading and has recently began to quilt. She likes to spend time with her husband and her fur babies.
Noemi taught Prekindergarten before taking a position as a nanny.

I take pride in making sure that both the child and parents feel safe and comfortable. I understand that all babies are unique and that they each have their own individual needs.""
Ms. Judi has been our Infant teacher since joining our team back in 2001. She is a wonderful nurturer who truly treats each child as her own while they are away from their parents. She has raised four children of her own. In her spare time, Ms. Judi enjoys reading, gardening and cooking.
Ms. Judi had been working in the daycare setting for ten years before joining our team as an Infant teacher.

Ms. Lisa is new to our team, but has already established a wonderful bond with our children. She has been working in the childcare field for the past seven years. She really enjoys working with the younger children. Ms. Lisa loves to camp and fish with her family in her spare time. She likes to spend her weekends at the coast or in the mountains.
Ms. Lisa was previously an Infant teacher for two other daycare centers before joining our team.

Ms. Tasha has known since high school that she has wanted to work with children. She took all classes offered in high school, and began college courses in Early Childhood as well. She enjoys painting and going to the movies in her free time. Ms. Tasha likes to take road trips to the coast as well.

Ms. Amy works well at preparing a well functioning classroom routine based on her children's individual needs. She provides a great amount of nurturing to the children as well. In her free time, Ms. Amy likes to go hiking and golfing. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two children as well.
Ms. Amy worked as a substitute teacher for a school in the St. Helens district before joining our team.

Ms. Heather brings such a creative environment into a classroom. She is always able to get children excited about any subject. She enjoys art, reading, biking and participating in living history/historical reenactments.
Ms. Heather previously worked for three other daycare centers before joining our team in 2010. She has worked as a seasonal teacher and a math teacher as well.

Ms. Capri has such a calm demeanor with the children. She is a wonderfully patient person that will work time and time again with a child until they succeed at a task. She likes exceeding beyond curriculum standards with the children each day. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, painting and practicing sign language. Ms. Capri loves to go to the park with her family as well.
Ms. Capri worked for an elementary school before joining our team.

Ms. Lynnae brings a lot of experience to our team. She focuses on the whole child when she plans her extra curriculum for her class (focusing on the social, emotional, physical, and mental development of each child). In her spare time Ms. Lynnae enjoys going to Portland Timbers games, being out on her farm, and watching movies.
Ms. Lynnae was previously a substitute teacher before taking a teaching position within a school district.

Ms. Christine joined our team in October of 2012. With her previous experience, she brings excitement to her curriculum. She takes great pride in being a grandmother and enjoys taking vacation to see her grandchildren. She enjoys being able to communicate with them routinely through face time. She also likes to scrapbook amongst other various craft activities in her spare time.
Ms. Christine worked for Valley Catholic for three years and has been working in a daycare environment since the year of 2000. She has had the opportunity to shadow children with limited abilities to determine the best avenue to success for the child.

Ms. Ashley teaches our Kindergarten class at Knowledge Beginnings. She began working for Knowledge Universe in the summer of 2010. She joined our team in 2013. Ms. Ashley enjoys reading and going for bike rides in her free time. She loves spending her spare time making jewelry and personalized cards.
Ms. Ashley was a substitute teacher before joining our team. She was previously with KinderCare as their Kindergarten teacher as well.

Ms. Vickie joined Knowledge Beginnings in 2003. She has worked in all rooms, and is very familiar with company guidelines and curriculum. In her free time she is a part of a marching band. Ms. Vickie enjoys marching with the Rose Festival parades and reading. She holds the secretary position for an Italian club in downtown Portland, as well.
Ms. Vickie has worked in the childcare field since 1984. She has been the Infant, Toddler and Preschool classroom teacher before starting as the School Age teacher.

Ms. Justine has a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Speech Education with Minors in Dance and English. She also has a Master's of Education Degree in Learning Disabilities/Special Education. She has 25 hours of college credit in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Justine holds an Oregon Teaching Certificate as well. In her spare time, Ms. Justine likes to go for walks, read, travel, go see movies, and take Zumba classes. She loves spending time with her husband, friends and cat.
Ms. Justine has worked in the childcare field for the past five years. She has been around younger children all her life. Previously, she has been a Preschool teacher, substitute teacher, and mentor for children.
