Our staff would like to welcome you to visit our center. The staff takes in pride in keeping up to date with the latest trends in Early Childhood Education. Ongoing training is offered to the staff during the year at the center and through the various training opportunities in the community.
Shawna has had the privilege of opening the Knowledge Beginnings in Hillsboro and has experienced many opportunities in the company working as a Kindergarten teacher, Assistant Director and Director of another center. Shawna was excited to be returning to Knowledge Beginnings as the Director in 2009. Her experience in the Army allowed her to live around the world and appreciate various cultures. She has worked with children for over 18 years and received her Associates in Early Childhood Education and is continuing to further her education. What she enjoys most about her job is building relationships with children and families.

Kristen has had the honor to be a research and teacher's assistant for a doctorate professor in Human Development. She has worked in an office environment for the past ten years and with children for the past six years. In her free time, Kristen enjoys keeping a healthy lifestyle through food and exercise. She enjoys spending her free time with her family and friends. Kristen loves being outdoors, camping, hiking, and horseback riding.
Kristen worked for the Washington State University of Vancouver's Child Development Program before joining Knowledge Universe.

Ms. Noemi had previously worked for KinderCare before joining Knowledge Beginnings. She has been a part of our team since August of 2012. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, reading and has recently began to quilt. She likes to spend time with her husband and her fur babies.
Noemi taught Prekindergarten before taking a position as a nanny.

I take pride in making sure that both the child and parents feel safe and comfortable. I understand that all babies are unique and that they each have their own individual needs.""
Ms. Judi has been our Infant teacher since joining our team back in 2001. She is a wonderful nurturer who truly treats each child as her own while they are away from their parents. She has raised four children of her own. In her spare time, Ms. Judi enjoys reading, gardening and cooking.
Ms. Judi had been working in the daycare setting for ten years before joining our team as an Infant teacher.
"Coming into work everyday to love on and take care such wonderful children is a great way to begin each day. I love assisting the infants in fun art and sensory projects. I enjoy watching them grow up to be their own little individuals with their own little personalities."
Ms. Kristie strives to use continuous verbal. In her spare time she likes to be outdoors. She loves spending any free time that she has with her children.
"I love seeing how the children light up when they've achived a new skill that was previously a chllenge or struggle for them to master."
Mrs. Olivia is currently teaching at West Union Elementary during the day. She comes to us after school is released to assist in the Infant room. Mrs. Olivia enjoys playing board games, video games, and various outdoor activities with her family during her free time. She and her husband have enjoyed swing dancing for several years now as well.

Ms. Lisa is new to our team, but has already established a wonderful bond with our children. She has been working in the childcare field for the past seven years. She really enjoys working with the younger children. Ms. Lisa loves to camp and fish with her family in her spare time. She likes to spend her weekends at the coast or in the mountains.
Ms. Lisa was previously an Infant teacher for two other daycare centers before joining our team.

Ms. Tasha has known since high school that she has wanted to work with children. She took all classes offered in high school, and began college courses in Early Childhood as well. She enjoys painting and going to the movies in her free time. Ms. Tasha likes to take road trips to the coast as well.
"What I enjoy most about working with children is watching them grown and elarn. I also love the people I work with because they make working here fun and exciting. It's a very fun environment to work in."
Ms. Carmen enjoys watching movies with her fmaily in her spare time. She also loves to go bowling and dining out with friends."
"I love creating a bond with each child. I enjoy wacthing them grow and develop. I take great pride in assisting them as well. Teaching my students something new is very rewarding."
Ms. Allie enjoys coaching volleyball, eating and spending time with my family and friends. She also enjoys taking spontaneous road trips.
Ms. Allie worked for another center as a toddler teacher before joining our Knowledge Beginnings family.
"I love the silly and funny things that the kids say and do. Hearing 'It's Ms. Lanie!' whenever I walk into a classroom makes my entire day. Our toddlers give the best hugs and are always so welcoming to what our days' adventures bring."
Ms. Lanie shows great compassion with the children; they are always eager to spend time with her. In Ms. Lanie's spare time, she likes to watch movies, go on day trips, and spend time with her family and friends.
"Being able to see the children grow mentally and physically means so much to me. I enjoy seeing the excitement on their faces when they have accomplished something new for the first time. I love that I can be a role model for my children."
Mrs. Ruby came to Knowledge Beginnings as a teacher assistant and has worked her way up to a lead teacher role. Mrs. Ruby enjoys spending her free time with her family. She enjoys any family time, but especially being outdoors.
"I enjoy watching the children learn and grow; knowing that I have contributed to that is a wonderful feeling! Seeing a child achieve something that is not possible is an amazing experience to be apart of; such as achieving potty training."
Ms. Liz enjoys working our evenings and being able to send our families home at the end of the day with a warm, friendly smile. She responds quickly to families needs and works hard to make them feel heard. Ms. Liz likes to spend her free time with her family and three dogs. She loves to listen to music as well.

Ms. Heather brings such a creative environment into a classroom. She is always able to get children excited about any subject. She enjoys art, reading, biking and participating in living history/historical reenactments.
Ms. Heather previously worked for three other daycare centers before joining our team in 2010. She has worked as a seasonal teacher and a math teacher as well.

Ms. Lynnae brings a lot of experience to our team. She focuses on the whole child when she plans her extra curriculum for her class (focusing on the social, emotional, physical, and mental development of each child). In her spare time Ms. Lynnae enjoys going to Portland Timbers games, being out on her farm, and watching movies.
Ms. Lynnae was previously a substitute teacher before taking a teaching position within a school district.

Mr. Gustavo has been working with children since he was in high school. He continued to teach and mentor young adults while he attended St. Martin's University for his degree. Mr. Gustavo spends the majority of his spare time at the gym. He enjoys weekend vacations with friends and family as well.
"What I've always enjoyed most working with children is the rewarding feeling I get when a child reaches an educated or personal milestone; no matter at what level it may be. I enjoy seeing a child finally be able to voice hello to a friend for the first time. I enjoy watching a child finally write their full name. Seeing a child's excited, proud expression on their face for achieving those great moments is what I find most priceless!!"
Mrs. Alma has been teaching children for her entire working career. Mrs. Alma loves to collect and watch movies in her free time. She enjoys being outdoors, simple walks in Portland, or going to the beach. Mrs. Alma's dream day is to be able to have her entire family all together to spend time together; laughing, conversating, and creating memories.
"Watching the children go through different stages and figuring out new things - each time they learn or accomplish something new, the look on their face of amazement is astounding!"
Mrs. Carly is currently striving to complete all levels of the step program for Early Childhood Education. She enjoys spending all of her free time with her 12 year old daughter, Emma. She loves to take her to the beach, go shopping, going for long drives, and sharing their biggest joy of all, music!

Ms. Christine joined our team in October of 2012. With her previous experience, she brings excitement to her curriculum. She takes great pride in being a grandmother and enjoys taking vacation to see her grandchildren. She enjoys being able to communicate with them routinely through face time. She also likes to scrapbook amongst other various craft activities in her spare time.
Ms. Christine worked for Valley Catholic for three years and has been working in a daycare environment since the year of 2000. She has had the opportunity to shadow children with limited abilities to determine the best avenue to success for the child.
"I value the opportunity to be able to work with children everyday. I find having happy, well taught students makes for a very rewarding career."
Ms. Jenna is currently working towards her Child Development Associates. In her spare time, she spends all of it with her three year old daughter. She loves taking her over to the park to play.
Ms. Jenna was previously working at another preschool in the community before joining our family.
"I love to see the children's eye light when they grasp a new concept. Children are naturally curious and eagerly soak up all you have to offer them. Often, they push you to grow and discover right along with them."
Ms. Michelle loves ballroom dancing in her spare time; especially waltz and rumba. She also enjoys scrapbooking, reading, and browsing on Pinterest.
Ms. Michelle was running Hendrickson Academy before moving to Beaverton.

Ms. Vickie joined Knowledge Beginnings in 2003. She has worked in all rooms, and is very familiar with company guidelines and curriculum. In her free time she is a part of a marching band. Ms. Vickie enjoys marching with the Rose Festival parades and reading. She holds the secretary position for an Italian club in downtown Portland, as well.
Ms. Vickie has worked in the childcare field since 1984. She has been the Infant, Toddler and Preschool classroom teacher before starting as the School Age teacher.
"I love working with children and teaching them new songs and games. I feel that the ability to group together as a team is a very important skill for children to possess."
Ms. Rachel is currently completing her student teaching at Brookwood Elementary during the day time. She comes over to us after school lets out to run our School-Age program. Ms. Rachel enjoys reading in her spare time. She enjoys trying out new coffee shops in Portland, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Ms. Rachel worked in Europe during a summer, directing a summer program at the military base. She was in charge of the child services; which encompassed sports, crafts, games and skits.
"Hearing a child say 'I did it!' with huge wide open eyes and big smiles is the most wonderful experience you can witness. Being able to see a toddler blow bubbles for the first time with the excitement and enthusiasm that they have mastered a new skill is a wonderful memory I have gained since working here at KB."
Mrs. Sonya is striving to achieve her Bachelor of Arts in Business with a minor in Childhood Family Studies. She currently has obtained her Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education through Portland Community College. When Mrs. Sonya is not working or attending school, she enjoys being with her family of six. She enjoys walking around Northwest 23rd, going to the movies, and taking a trip out to the beach.
Mrs. Sonya was previously a part of KinderCare back in 1996.

Ms. Jessica comes to us from previously working at another preschool in the area. She is looking into applying for her Child Development Associates while working here at Knowledge Beginnings. Ms. Jessica loves spending her free time with her son and husband. They enjoy taking walks in the park.
"I enjoy going to the infant room and spending time with the babies. I enjoy working with the Toddlers out on the playground and teaching them new skill sets in the classroom. I really enjoy pretty much everything about what I get to do her at Knowledge Beginnings!"
Ms. Vanessa is currently striving to obtain her Child Development Assosicates through Rasmussen College. In her free time, she enjoys babysitting, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends.
"I enjoy being able to work with a wide variety of ages of children. By being able to work in the kitchen, I am allowed to incorporate my skills as a coo, alongside with my love of working with children."
Ms. Chelsey enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and fishing. She also enjoys having family movie nights.
"I enjoy discovering things with the kids. The kids love looking for bugs and sometimes we find bugs I haven't seen before."
She worked with the child development program through her high school.
