Stories
My daughter, who is now four and a half, has attended KinderCare since she was 8 weeks old. Our experiences at KinderCare have been wonderful. When my daughter was an infant, she was lovingly cared for by Ms. Lisa. Ms. Lisa made me feel as if my child was her favorite. I am sure that she made all the parents feel that way. She also would reassure me that my child was developing normally. I would often look at the other three babies who were the same age as mine in the classroom and compare what they could do to what my baby was not doing. Ms. Lisa would confidently tell me that I should not even look at the other babies; every baby develops skills at his/her own rate. She assured me that my baby would catch up in time. She was right!
The KinderCare teachers take a personal interest in my child and family. One teacher would even help me with my daughters “ethnic hair.” She had the knowledge and generously would help me, even going to the trouble of purchasing products for her hair at a store that she shopped at close to her home. When this teacher unexpectedly died, my daughter and felt that we had lost a member of our family. The KinderCare staff handled this very difficult situation beautifully. They spoke with me about it first so I could be the one to decide how to talk to my child about the death. Even though the staff was grieving, they made the days following her death normal for my child. She did not realize anything was different. I applaud the KinderCare staff in their professionalism.
Now that my child is in the four year old room, she has learned so much. She has learned that she is capable of doing things for herself in addition to the academics that are taught through play. My daughter never complains about going to “Nursery School.” Infact, on the Sunday after Thanksgiving, she asked me if she could go to “Nursery School” to play with her friends. The teacher of the four-year-olds Mrs. Theresa understands and respects the values that I instill on my daughter at home, and will lovingly remind her of these values when needed. I know that when I leave my daughter with Mrs. Theresa, she is loved and well cared for. When my daughter started four-year-old kindergarten this year at the public school, Mrs. Theresa took her in the KinderCare bus. She walked my daughter in and even took pictures for me. When Mrs. Theresa returned to KinderCare, she called me at work to let me know that my daughter arrived at Kindergarten safely and happily.
Ms. Sally the director and Ms. Mallory the assistant director are friendly and willing to talk with me. They are very knowledgeable and can answer any question regarding early childhood development. On the rare occasion I have a concern, they immediately address it, and resolve it satisfactorily. They act in a professional manner, which reflects on the staff, as they act in an extremely professional manner as well. They make sure that KinderCare is a welcoming and safe place come to everyday.
