Welcome

Welcome to Lower Terrace KinderCare Learning Center. We are very excited to meet with you and your family! We aspire to develop the whole child, so we place an emphasis on assisting children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development in a safe nurturing environment. Here at KinderCare, we believe it takes a village to raise a child, and the families at our center always consider us to be an extension of their families. We all really work together to ensure that children have individualized goals for their educational and social/emotional needs and we help them achieve those goals. In addition to providing a safe, secure, nurturing, educational, and stimulating environment for your child to grow in, you will have support from our team of child development experts, all of whom have a true passion for educating and nurturing children.

AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited–nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference, and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

SCHOOL-READY

Our kids are taking off!

By kindergarten, our kids are testing ahead of their peers. Read all about it.

Accreditation

Many of our child care centers are accredited by national organizations that require us to meet rigorous early childhood education standards and guidelines for high-quality care and education. Programs that are accredited have demonstrated their commitment to go beyond the state’s minimum licensing requirements to meet and maintain these high standards of quality.

Our Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks - 1 year)

Babies grow and learn every day. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing "home away from home" where babies can explore and make new discoveries. We know that learning through play is extremely valuable at this age and our Early Foundations® Infant program is designed to give babies the skills that will serve as the building blocks for a lifetime of learning.

Toddler Programs (1 – 2 Years)

As toddlers develop friendships, self-esteem, and curiosity, our Early Foundations® Toddler program will help them explore their world in a safe and nurturing environment. Our unique curriculum is based on the philosophy that children learn best through experiences. So each day is filled with fun activities that excite and develop toddlers, giving them the comfort and confidence to speak those first few important words, as well as make their first friends.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2 – 3 Years)

At this age, children are making new discoveries daily. And as two-year olds begin to exert their independence, our Early Foundations® Discovery Preschool program is prepared to open their eyes to a world of learning, sharing, and exploring. Our holistic approach in the classroom engages young minds with a blend of music, art, and movement, as well as the early education fundamentals they'll need as they continue on to preschool.

Preschool Programs (3 – 4 Years)

As preschoolers gain more self-esteem, they may feel ready to take on the world. Our Early Foundations® Preschool program enhances that confidence by providing activities to help children become problem solvers and lifelong learners. Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, children will work on early literacy, math, science, and social studies concepts. A healthy dose of running, jumping, and dancing keeps them active too.

Prekindergarten Programs (4 – 5 Years)

Prekindergartners are preparing for the adventure of a lifetime – school. And our Early Foundations Prekindergarten® program is designed to get them ready by teaching letters and words, math concepts, and valuable social skills. With small group instruction, independent play in an organized atmosphere, and whole-group activities, children will have all the right skills to hop, skip, and jump right into kindergarten.

Before- & After-School Programs (5 – 12 Years)

Even after school's out for the day, children need to be engaged in a comfortable, yet stimulating environment. That's where our Catch the Wave® program comes in. This innovative before – and after-school program allows school-age children to balance learning and fun through a variety of experiences. From homework help to fun physical activities, our program is designed so that everyone goes home happy.

Summer Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Don’t miss out on KinderCare’s Summer of Wonder: Six themed programs that will make summer exciting, educational and tons of fun. Whether your child is in our preschool, Pre-K or school-age programs, all of it is designed to help children learn while soaking up the fun. We offer flexible scheduling options to meet the needs of busy families like yours so we hope to see you there.

Participating Child Care Aware Center

KinderCare has partnered with Child Care Aware® of America in an effort to offer fee assistance for Active Duty military families and solutions to their child care needs when care at a Child Development Center on the installation is not available.

Learning Adventures - Enrichment Program

Cooking

The Cooking Adventures program gives children opportunities to participate in fun, developmentally appropriate cooking experiences. They will learn about recipes, ingredients, cooking vocabulary, and the importance of a healthy diet. The curriculum includes lessons on picnics, pizza, and heart-healthy meals.

Math

The Math Adventures enrichment program is designed to teach important mathematics concepts such as geometry, numbers, measurement, and probability. Your child will learn about length, height, and weight. He will learn about shapes and solids. He will learn how to add, subtract, multiply, and count money. Math is everywhere and giving your child every advantage now will add up to success later in life.

Music

Ongoing research proves that early exposure to music helps children think, reason, create, and express themselves. Children will laugh and learn about rhythm, vocal melodies, and a variety of musical genres and instruments, which can lower stress and advance memory. Learning never sounded so good.

Phonics & Reading Adventures

Set your child up for advanced success with literacy through phonics, the study of letters and sounds. Reader books, games, and activity cards help your child understand the basics of vowels and blending syllables, giving him confidence and command of language.

Spanish

Spanish Adventures provides young learners with a foundation for later success with the Spanish language. Music, games, children's Spanish literature, and other tools give children multiple opportunities to hear, practice, and see Spanish language for vocabulary and conversational development. Curriculum includes lessons on greetings, numbers, colors, animals, family, body parts and pets as well as how to get engage conversationally during common scenarios at home, a restaurant, or at the zoo. Teachers & Staff

The loving and devoted professionals at Lower Terrace KinderCare are passionate about teaching and caring for young children. Our program is nationally accredited, which means we have ensured that our teachers exceed state minimum standards for education level and ongoing professional development. Their lifelong love of learning is evident in their desire to stay abreast of new research and teaching techniques. Families meet with teachers three times per year to review their child's progress, which is documented in our developmentally appropriate assessments, portfolios, and anecdotal notes about daily achievements. We feel privileged to work alongside families to form supportive and cooperative partnerships.

  • Ms. Aubrey Trujilo, Assistant Director

Ms. Aubrey has been working with children professionally since she was 17. Ms. Aubrey believes that there is no such thing as a bad child. She also believes that all children have special needs that we need to adapt to in order to help them learn, whether it is big or small. She started working with children at an after-school program, teaching Prekindergarten and Tiny-Tot sport classes. That’s when she knew that she wanted to always stay working in the early childhood education field. From there, Ms. Aubrey had an amazing opportunity to work at a couple child development centers, and even become a Director at a prior program as well. The reason why Ms. Aubrey loves working with KinderCare is because she went to one as a child, and was able to read and write by the age of four. She wanted to become a part of being able to help families see what a huge difference it can make--not only in her life, but also her son’s as well. Ms. Aubrey feels so privileged every day to interact with families and their children in classrooms, as well as ensuring that she and the staff provide the highest quality education, in addition to making sure that the children are nurtured, safe, and most of all, have fun!

    Previous Experience:
Ms. Aubrey has a lot of experience teaching children with special abilities such as autism, Aspergers, ADD, ADHD, PTSD, deaf children, and other behavioral predicaments due to trauma and stress. She has worked in an after-school program, as a Prekindergarten Teacher, and at Tiny-Tot sport classes, along with other child development centers.

April's Learning Focus

Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: Growing Gardens

What better time to explore the beauty and science of flowers and gardens than the spring? Infants’ learning will focus on sensory experiences with different plants and flowers, while toddlers and three-year-olds have the opportunity to learn how to care for plants. We’ll plant seeds in soil, water the plants, observe bugs and discover how they help plants grow, and even plant a butterfly garden outside! We’ll build math skills by counting seeds, learn new vocabulary words related to flowers and plants, and as always, sing songs and read books involving gardens.

Children 4–5 years old: In the Spring + Wild Animals

For children in the Preschool and Transitional Kindergarten Classrooms, April is about exploring all things spring and discovering wild animals! Preschoolers will look for signs of spring outdoors, make mud cakes and count the twigs placed in them, and paint still-life paintings of things related to spring. When our learning turns to wild animals, we’ll learn about the habitats and habits of creatures big and small while maintaining a focus on learning lowercase letters.

The older children in Transitional Kindergarten will focus on project-related work and pick something to work on together. In years past, children have painted a mural, made spring parade floats, painted wild animal masks, and created a model of a wild animal’s habitat. Both of these units focus on expanding the children’s understanding of the natural world around them.

Health and Safety

Our top priority at Lower Terrace KinderCare is to provide a safe and healthy environment for our children, families, and staff. We do this through rigorous training and constant assessment and evaluation of proper policies and procedures. Your child’s security begins at the front door--literally. We have a locked security entrance that requires a numeric code to enter, with all side doors locked to ensure the security of the building. All guests or those authorized for emergency pick-ups must provide photo identification before being escorted through the building. Our teachers have all cleared local, state, and federal background checks, including fingerprinting, and have all been trained in infant and child CPR and First Aid. We do routine fire, storm, and lock-down drills to prepare for the unexpected. No child is ever left unattended, even for a minute. Teachers have all been trained in supervision, discipline and guidance, and developmentally appropriate practices to ensure they understand the risks associated with the children in their care. If your child has food allergies or specific medical conditions, we will work with you to ensure your child’s well-being while in our care. We also take the responsibility of your child’s emotional security very seriously: We want every child to feel safe, loved, and respected while at KinderCare.

At KinderCare, what families say about us means a lot. Read below some of the great experiences our families have had with us.

Share Your Story
If you have a story about your experience at KinderCare, please share your story with us.

Both my four-and-a-half-year-old and my one-and-a-half-year-old attended KinderCare. We’ve been with the center since my oldest was four months old. We love KinderCare because the teachers are great, there are so many learning opportunities, and our girls think of school as their second home. We highly recommend trusting KinderCare with your children’s needs. Also, one of the best things is the low turnover rate, and our girls have a consistent teacher, which allows them to develop very trusting relationships.

- Mother

My family owes so much to our KinderCare. They always go above and beyond to make our child with special needs feel safe, comfortable, and engaged. We have been at this center for over four years and I couldn’t imagine finding a better child care center in the entire city. The teachers are extremely friendly and the management team is always willing to help in any way they can. We love our school and are extremely grateful for them!

- Father

My children have been in preschool and prekindergarten at this center and they have developed great social skills along with mental skills that are now helping them through elementary school. When each of my daughters were in kindergarten, their teacher was amazed at how much they knew and would consistently tell me how impressed she was with how ready they were for her class. I credit our KinderCare for great curriculum implementation and also for their genuine interest in my children’s education. We loved our center so much that even through our girls didn’t necessarily need after-school care, we still enrolled them in KinderCare’s School-Age program to keep them in such an awesome setting.

- Mother

I enrolled my daughter at this KinderCare when she was only seven weeks old. I was so worried to leave my infant while I worked, but thanks to the wonderful Infant Teacher, the transition became easier and easier every day. She had such good communication with me and would relay all pivotal information to me as it was happening. My daughter is now two and reaching developmental milestones daily in her current classroom. I love our KinderCare and would recommend them to anybody who is in need of quality care!

- Mother

I enjoy how my daughter's teacher is supportive of my requests with things such as not letting her take long naps and letting me know how much she is eating specifically. I also appreciate the little side notes that the teacher tells me about what my daughter does every day! The Director is also so helpful with any concerns I have, or other issues with my kid’s experience. I feel like the center’s teachers and directors are like family, now more than ever.

- Mother

My daughter seems to be learning a lot of new things. She likes to show me everything she learns at school. We are pleased with Ms. Andrea! My daughter talks about her all the time!

- Mother

My son transferred here from another KinderCare Center, and I was so nervous about how he would adjust. Within the first day I picked him up, he was so excited to come back to his classroom. He also has some food allergies and his teachers are always amazing about contacting me if they are unsure about something. His dad also feels very included and says that the teachers do an amazing job at making it a nice, warm, inviting environment.
