Why do I need to request my Year End Statement, isn't KinderCare required by law to provide this information?
The Year End Statement that is provided by KinderCare Learning Centers is not a legal document, but rather a courtesy statement, which is sent to parents at their request.
We do not fall into the category of being required to provide a Year End Statement and/or legal proof of payment
1099 Federal Reporting Criteria is as follows:
- Any person, including a corporation, partnership, individual, estate, and trust, who make reportable transactions during the calendar year, must file the appropriate information returns to report those transactions. In addition, the person must also provide a statement to the recipient of the reportable income or to the other party involved in the reportable transaction.
- Payments to Corporations: In general, payments to corporations are not reportable. However, several types of payments made to corporations are reportable on a 1099-MISC. Reportable payments to corporations are:
- Medical and health care payments
- Attorney's fees
- Gross proceeds paid to attorneys
- Fish purchases for cash
- Payments by a federal executive agency for services
- Substitute payments in lieu of dividends or tax-exempt interest
Why can't I have this statement mailed to me like other organizations?
The Year End Statement that is provided by KinderCare Learning Centers is not a legal document, but rather a courtesy statement, which is given to parents. These are not mailed to families currently in attendance at the center. For families not attending a center, fax is the preferred method.
Shouldn't you correct the name or amount for me?
We do not report individual parent payments to the IRS. The document we provide is a courtesy statement only; the best representation of what you have paid in child care expenses are copies of your cancelled checks, your bank or debit/credit statement or money order receipts, which we encourage parents to keep for further reference.
There's a discrepancy on my Year End Statement, what do I do to correct this?
Please refer to your Center Director to better understand the amounts listed on the statement. Center Management can print out a ledger card and discuss your concerns further.

Within Family Connection the best way to access year to date payments is to use the Account History tab and print an FSA report. This report includes all payments made during the period you request in the parameters of your report.
