MINNEAPOLIS (May 14, 2014) – In a major victory for Minnesota’s children, today the nation’s leading provider of early childhood education announced that 100 percent of the state’s KinderCare and Knowledge Beginnings Learning Centers are now nationally accredited.
Industrywide, less than 10 percent of all providers are nationally accredited. With 71 centers now accredited in Minnesota, KinderCare stands out as the national leader with the most high quality programs and services for young children. Minnesota is the second state in the KinderCare network to have all of its centers nationally accredited.
Knowledge Universe, whose family of brands includes KinderCare, Knowledge Beginnings, CCLC, and Champions, announced the Minneapolis milestone today at a conference of more than 250 of the company’s leaders.
“National accreditation sends a clear message to our families that our teachers, directors and educational programs are providing the highest standards of quality education,” said Dr. Elanna Yalow, CEO of Knowledge Universe Early Learning Programs.
“Children deserve the best experiences we can offer and with this achievement, our families now have that outside assurance that they are getting the best,” said Kathie Boe, Knowledge Universe vice president of quality and accreditation.
Studies have shown children who attend high quality programs demonstrate better skills in math, language and cognition, and social and emotional development.
The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education Programs (NAC), and National Early Childhood Program Accreditation (NECPA) each accredited several of the centers.
